Bostik Blu Tack
Advantages: Re-usable, long-lasting, not over sticky, good value
Disadvantages: The colour
Blu Tack is one of those brand names (along with Hoover etc.) that have become so absorbed into our vocubulary that the mention of "sticky tack" on Blue Peter, where such advertising is not allowed, is quite foreign to us.
Blu Tack, appropriately called "The ORIGINAL re-usable adhesive" on its packet, remains better than other comparable products available. Its softness prevents it pulling off paint or clinging to your pictures after years of being on the wall, unlike its stickier competitors, and a tiny amount can hold up a picture without falling down. With a piece in each corner, one standard packet of Blu Tack could stick up approximately 200 pictures.
In its packaging Blu Tack proposes several improbable uses of the sticky blue stuff, including removing lint from clothing, sticking photos in a photo album and clean your keyboard. However, it is very versatile medium (in the past I have used it to make monotone plastacine animals, attach a pen to my magnetic message board etc.) and does the job!
It is unfortunate however, that Blu Tack is blue. Now that the most popular colour for walls is Magnolia, a Cream Tack would probably be more appropriate for many of the tasks people require Blu Tack for, but I supposed the company are tied to the historical name and branding of the colour.
Summary: A great invention for attaching, holding, sticking...
