Advantages: it sticks things

Disadvantages: can leave oily marks or take the paint off the wall

You can buy a pack of Blu Tac for around 79p-99p if you shop around.

What has most impressed me is that I am aware they brought out PINK TAC in support of a Breast Cancer charity last year (I've looked but I just can't fnd any pink tac to buy) and they also have YELLOW TAC (which is actually YELLOW sticky stuff - it is awesome) in support of the Marie Curie Charity. I am eagerly awaiting other colours in due course!

The promotional colours are more expensive, but they donate a portion of the pack sale to charity.

For some reason, blu tac is one of those product that everyone buys a pack of at Christmas then has to buy another pack of next year. The thing with the product is it can be re-used. Indefinitely. So, technically, you should only ever need to buy one pack in your life if you keep track of it and pick it off everything and put it back in the wrapper somehow and re-use it.

In practise, I must have bought 20 packs in my life and I'm only 29 and I cannot find a single piece in my house. I know this is not an isolated incident!

The drawbacks are it can leave a small oily mark if you apply it onto painted walls or it can pull a small piece of paint off the wall if you stick it to paint which is quite old. So be aware of this if you live in a rented house- you will more than likely have to repaint to get your deposit back if you stick up a load of posters with blu tac. This is common knowledge and the packs do contain sufficient warnings about this.

I cannot imagine what we would do without blu tac (use sellotape?). It is just indisensible for all sorts of household decorative uses, mini model making and general stress relief purposes.

Summary: We cannot live without blu tac for Xmas cards and posters and sticking things
