Advantages: holds art work in place

Disadvantages: ?

I use blu-tack a lot at work to keep the children’s artwork on the walls,
So what is blue tack? (As if you didn’t know.)
Bostic, who make make sticky products, makes blu-tack.

Blu-tack has been around for many a year can find no information as to when first produced.
Blu- tack comes in a flat sheet between two pieces of greaseproof paper this is inside a blue cardboard envelope.

It is available at most stationers, art shops, supermarkets you can buy on line. Retail price is about 79p buy multi-packs on line at euro office cheaper.

Blu- tack is a blue coloured plasticine chewing gum like synthetic rubber compound that when pulled apart has an elastic quality. When rolled in your hands and made warm stick it onto your wall and fix your display onto it. The blu- tack will hold your decoration in position easily and for a long time without the decoration falling down use more blu-tac on heavier items small pieces at regular intervals I find best.
Blu-tack can be used to fit many light items on your walls; it is also a good stress buster. I sometimes find myself squeezing and squashing the blu- tack while I am using it if I am confronted by a troublesome child (not that any of the angels I teach are troublesome.)
Blu-tack is good if you wish to take an imprint of an item press into the blu-tack and the image will stay. It can be used to make small plastercine like models

When it gets cold it becomes brittle. Blu-tack can be reused time and time again. It can leave a greasy mark on paintwork when it is removed.
Blu-tac will not easily stick on wet walls or a textured wall like brick. If adhered to a wall with poor loose paintwork when the blue-tack is removed it will leave a hole /mark in the wall. (My classroom has many such.).
Thank you for reading , best wishes Mary

I was never allowed to put posters on my walls with blu-tack because of the greasy mark it leaves behind :o(
