Advantages: Long lasting softness and freshness
Disadvantages: Not to be used on Flame retardant materials
Winter is around the corner, outside it is damp, wet, and miserable. The squirrels are bouncing around the garden , frantically burying their nuts and generally preparing for hibernation. The gardens are covered in slimy , wet fallen leaves and there is a distinct nip in the air. The nights are drawing in, and we are all sniffling with the beginnings of our traditional winter colds. Tis nearly the season to be jolly, but it is hard to be jolly when you feel so miserable , and you are bundled up against the elements in stale winter woolies, hastily retrieved from the back of the closet.
On opening my front door, you step across the threshold and bounce back.....into Summer !!!! I am reclining back in my chair, eyes closed, glass of chardonnay in hand, feeling the warmth on my face with the wonderful smell and summer breeze wafting up my nostrils....mmmmmmmm. A lovely summer's day you might think......Not so ...for I am using Bounce Summer Breeze tumble dryer sheets...and I am happy !!
Since I first tried these, last year, I haven't looked back, they are extremely versatile little sheets of fabric softener. I purchased my box of 40 sheets from my local Sainsburys at a princely sum of £3.83 (available from most supermarkets), They come in several different scents:
Summer Breeze
Linen
Outdoor Fresh
Spring awakening
Febreze *new*
Fragrance free
My favourite is the Summer Breeze, the box is sunshine yellow with a bright orange sun. Inside are 40 handkerchief sized tissues, you simply pop one in on top of your washing load in the tumble dryer and you're off ! Whilst the dryer is on, the lovely scent spreads around the house, giving the effect of air freshener, and the warmth from the dryer activates the components of the tissues. When the load is done you end up with soft, fresh smelling laundry, and the fresh smell really lasts for quite a while. My towels were washed and dried 3 days ago and they still smell fresh now. As far as softness goes, they work perfectly, my clothes feel as soft as if I were using a normal well know fabric softener, and, again, are still soft some days later, in fact weeks later in the case of a lot of my articles, and my knickers have never smelt so fresh !!
Another advantage of these little miracle sheets, is that they reduce the static build up..so no more electric shocks when pulling that cotton top over your head, and no more hair stuck up on end, looking as though you have suffered an electric shock ! They also help prevent creasing, however note I said they 'Help', don;t expect to never have to iron again...unfortunately they haven't yet invented this !!! When you have finished with your sheet, simply throw it away. It is recommended you use one sheet per load, although I have often used 2 for particularly heavy loads to great effect.
Whilst there are no real warnings on the packet, there are a few facts to note, if you use these with synthetic materials you should dry on a low heat, this is because there is a risk of oily spotting, although this is easily removed with a little soap and water. My one main concern is that they should NEVER be used with children's sleepwear or any flame resistant articles, this is because Bounce Sheets can reduce the flame resistance...I say I am concerned because there is absolutely nothing on the box to tell you this, it was only when I took a look at their website that I found this out, and even there, the warning is not very clear, it is in small writing at the bottom of the page.
These little sheets are extremely versatile, as I have said, below are a number of ideas you might want to try , with good results:
Put a sheet in your lingerie drawer for fresh smelling undies.
Under your car seats for added freshness.
Inside stale smelling trainers.
Inside quilt covers for added freshness.
Hang behind warm radiators.
You can also use these to clean wooden and metal blinds, removing dust.
There are many other ideas listed on their website:
Made by Proctor and Gamble, they are recommended for use by White Knight, Whirlpool and Zanussi...........and of course Averilla.
All in all I would not be without these now, they tend to last longer that other fabric conditioners and have so many wide ranging uses around the home. I do think they are quite expensive but sometimes it is worth paying that little bit more for something that works.
Oh and as for the warmth on my face at the beginning......no that was not the effects of too much chardonnay...that was my roaring fire....Hee Hee.
Summary: Long lasting freshness, softness and a multitude of other uses
