Advantages: Strong, absorbant, can be found at bargain prices

Disadvantages: None

I bought a twinpack of this much advertised brand of kitchen roll from my local B&M Stores, for the bargain price of 99p. I believe that this is lower than the usual supermarket price of around £1.60 for two rolls. It is also worth pointing out that the name has recently been changed to Plenty but the packaging and colours all still look the same, I have no idea why they changed it which seems odd after such a short time to establish the Bounty brand but they must have had their reasons.

Anyway, I rarely buy kitchen towel but I wanted to clean my windows and mirrors and bought this at the same time as some windowlene as in my experience it is the best thing with which to apply the same.

Twice now (and purely by chance) the roll has been tested to the max in the same kind of style as those lovely butch men in dresses do on the adverts. This is because I seem to be going through a clumsy patch. Firstly I knocked a glass of cola all over the work top in the kitchen whilst performing a tricky wok maneouvre, this resulted in sticky coke all over the surfaces and running down the front of the cupboards.

Without missing a beat I grabbed for the kitchen roll and tore of a few sheets, it was actually amazing quite how much of the puddle the first 3 sheets I scrunched together managed to soak up, the capacity was quite astounding. With that first handful I had pretty much mopped up the whole mess. One more for wiping the cupboards down and it was sorted. Hmm, I thought, pretty good.

A few days later I knocked a bottle of vinegar of the shelf whilst routing for something else and it bounced off the surface before smashing on the floor. Thankfully it was only half full but I still had a considerable pool of it on the lino, after piking out the glass I grabbed for the Bounty/Plenty again and began the clean up.

Again I was impressed with how quickly this stuff absorbs fluid and by the amount a sheet can hold, more so on this occasion it was clear how strong the towels are, when I looked at the wet side after mopping it was bejewelled with tiny specs of glass I had missed and a couple of small bits which could easily have cut me, they had not, however, managed to cut through the paper. The thickness and strength which they claim in the adverts obviously is based on some kind of fact!

All in all I was very impressed by both the absorbtion and the strength of these towels. For the price I paid (or even at full supermarket price) I think they are an absolute bargain and a kitchen essential, especially if, like me, you have a tendancy to cause accidents from time to time. A great product.

Summary: A product which really is as good as it claims to be.
