Advantages: Durable, Strong, Good looking

Disadvantages: Expensive

Moving into our new apartment, style, pop lid and durability is what we were looking for when it came to the kitchen bin.

We were looking at alternatives such supermarkets own brands, though none of these felt as robust and thick as the Brabanti Bins.

Brabantia specialise in Kitchen ware, this includes cutlery, bins, tools and other small gadgets. The range is robust, mechanically sound and built to last.

These are often far more expensive than competitor brands, but you do get what you pay for.

We went for the Polished finished, over the 'matte' effects they do. This is indeed a nightmare to keep on top of when cleaning, though I find Mr Sheen Metal wipes are very effective and polish out with a microfibre cloth to ensure no fingerprints are visible.

The bin has had a few knocks, of which nothing has caused this to dent, the spring on the pop top still works after 1 year of use and doesn't seem to have malfunctioned (which you often find with pedal bins).

We opted for the 25 litre, though they also sell a huge 50litre bin, which we probably should have got thinking about it!

We managed to get ours for £40 from Dunelm, they had a sale on at christmas, but expect to pay £45-£50 RRP.

Brabantia's own bin liners are a bit of a waste, they do indeed fit very snug, but we found that the Sainsburys own bin liners are just as durable, have the same 'string pull tie' and are half the price of the Brabantia's own.

we found these were the most snug fitting, but if you're happy to stretch/fold, Asda also do some very cheap scented ones.

Overall a great bin, much more durable than a previous one I owned, will certainly be looking at buying the miniture ones for the bathroom.

Summary: The leading brand of bins.
