Butterfly decoration ceiling

I was walking past Birthdays shop in town yesterday and was attracted to shining butterflies. They were hanging from the ceiling in the shop. I went over to investigate .No they were not real but part of a display of decorations for a summer party.
I am not having a summer theme party, but thought they would look good as a mobile over my new grand daughters cot.

The butterflies are light so will move in any breeze and are all bright shiny colours that will attract her. So Nanna put her hand in her pocket and paid £6.99p

Looking at the details on the pack I discover they are made by Amscan inc. I looked on the internet and found Amscan have a website http://www.amscan.co
UK It is an international company with UK headquarters in Milton Keynes. They seem to make and supply party ware, balloons, streamers paper table ware almost any party sundries you can think of.
Anyway inside this pack of foil butterflies and dragon flies is a strip of polythene blue with white clouds 30.5cm/12 inches wide by 3.7 metres/12 foot long. On each end of this strip is a loop of cord so you can suspend it from the ceiling. On this strip dangling down at intervals are 18 gold butterflies 18 purple dragonflies, 18 orange butterflies and 18 crimson pink butterflies. They each have a pattern made by tiny holes in the foil.

I could not wait to see this so just before my granddaughter arrived at my house, I carefully unravelled it and hung it across my living room one end attached to a hook I have in the ceiling at one end of the room the other end I hooked to a picture hook the other side of the room.

Hubby came into the room he was aghast I explained it was for Cassies delight he humphed and said nothing.

The decoration hung right across my sitting room shiny butterflies dancing in any draught. While I was waiting for my daughter and family to arrive I noticed a family with a child of about 5 walk past the little girl stopped and looked twice in my window pointing the dancing butterflies out to her parents. (Yes I felt a little silly) she did have a smile on her face and seemed to like them though.
The family arrived Cassie was laid on a blanket on the floor she was awake and one of the first things she did was look at the dancing glittering flying butterflies. She watched them and her eyes followed the line of butterflies she smiled contentedly.

My daughter gave one of her sighs MOTHER where do you expect me to put that I am not putting it by Cassies cot in my room….. I said well put it in the room that will be Cassies. Sally does change Cassies nappy there and dress her. M mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I have yet to see if she puts it anywhere, but I think it makes a great mobile. It is bright shiny and moves gently in the breeze.
I know it is not designed for this use but I thought it near perfect to stimulate Cassies senses.

I do think if you were going to have a summer Childs/family party these decorations although a bit crass would be fun if you really went to town and decorated a room or patio over the top with them.
