Advantages: Specific bathroom cleaner, easy to use.

Disadvantages: None

Abrasive scouring powder was something I hated as a child and a young woman. It was so difficult to rub in and rinse off and the bath always had a layer left on it. I trained in Catering and Housekeeeping Management and our lecturers gave us practical tasks like cleaning a corridor of bedrooms in the hostels and the bathrooms. They would come round later and do the finger tip test looking for dust, scouring powder in the bath etc! Rather like the programmes we have seen on television on how clean is your home!

How much easier life would have been armed with a spray bottle of Cif bathroom cleaner. Spray it on, leave for one minute and rinse, no rubbing required. Easy peasy or is it? I admit I still give the bath and wash basin a rub before rinsing just to give it that extra bit of cleaning, but once rinsed and dried the bath fairly gleams.

I particularly like it on my glass shower screen which gets a few soap and water marks on it, sprayed on and wiped over with a damp cloth it gleams like new glass. We have soft water in Scotland so don't have a problem with limescale so I can't comment how it works with this problem. The smell is fresh and quite pleasant and doesn't set my husband off coughing like one I use in the kitchen!

The bottle is white recyclable plastic with a green screw on the neck and a green trigger and on/off nozzle. The base is a round shape and it has a narrow neck with some raised spots making it easier to hold if your hands are wet. On the front the label has the CIF logo in green, white and a red dot on the "i", and shows a bath full of water and gleaming taps and tiles. It also states active limescale removal. On the back of the bottle is some information about the product and I was pleased to see that it has been tested by the Vitreous enamel association.

There are some precautions, mostly common sense ones, like keep out of children's reach, if splashed in eyes rinse well with water, rinse hands after use, avoid inhaling the spray mist, and something I found interesting was not to be used on marble, natural stones or old enamel, and to test in an inconspicuous area before using on paintwork.

Cif used to be known as Jif and still is in some countries, I always used the cream in the kitchen and got good results so decided to try the spray in the bathroom. One of many Unilever products and by appointment to the Queen, so it must be good if HRH uses it!

Cost £1.94 for a 750mls bottle which is the new size recently released. Mine obviously was cheaper but I have had it for a several weeks and can't remember the exact price.

Summary: Spray cleaner for sparkling clean bathrooms with no rubbing.
