? well actually I'm not, and I like to keep it that way in my bathroom. If there's one thing I can't stand it's seeing a bath with a ring of scum around the sides. It literally makes me retch. Rinsing out the bath after every dip helps keep your bath from getting that disgusting detritus around it, but once a week you need more than that to keep it sparkling and really clean. And rinsing doesn't keep your taps shining, either, or remove the gunk that seems to form around their bases at an alarming rate.

I hate housework with an absolute passion, so any cleaner that claims help me to any job quicker and easier is sure to end up in my trolley while I'm doing my weekly shop. And after trying bath wipes, which frankly turned out to be a very expensive and ineffective waste of time and money, I was in need of a different kind of product altogether.

Enter Cif Bath & Shower, formerly known as 'Jif Bath & Shower', a product from Lever Brothers, the market leaders in all things household cleanliness.

You can get your Cif in two forms, a spray in a trigger-action plastic bottle, and a mousse in a can. I've tried both and find the spray to be both more effective and cheaper to use.

According to the spiel on the bottle, Cif B&S removes 'grime, soap scum, limescale and watermarks'. It also claims that no rubbing is required and that my bath and raps will be left 'reflecting a brilliant shine'.

To use, spray liberally on the area you want to clean and then leave for a mo for the cleaning chemicals to do their business. Then just rinse off.

But is it that simple? Well, yes and no.

If your bath has no nasty scummy rings and your taps aren't gunged up or rusty around the bottom, then yes, simple rinsing is fine. In fact, you'll be amazed at the sparkle and cleanliness that results.

If, however, you have more stubborn stains, particularly limescale, you
will need to use a bit of elbow-grease prior to rinsing. And if you're using it on a bath that hasn't seen the human hand for some time, you'll probably need two or three applications to bring it up like nearly new.

That said, you don't have to scrub hard with this stuff, just a quick but firm wipe over with a damp cloth will do. And give your taps a buff with a dry cloth or some loo paper if you want them to really twinkle.

Overall, an excellent cleaner that doesn't require too much effort on your behalf, especially if you use it regularly and never let any significant amount of dirt build up.

Currently costing £1.59 at Tesco for a 500 ml bottle which lasts ages, it's good value too.

As with all cleaners, don't eat it, drink it or use as a face-cream, and wear gloves if you've got particularly sensitive skin.

Highly recommended.

Since you have experience with this product would you like to pop round and try it on my bath, just in case your results were a one-off? All in the interest of consumer testing, of course! And my bath needs a clean.. and I'm lazy... Andy
