Advantages: Works, smells ok, cheap

Disadvantages: You have to clean

I am by no means a clean freak, however I have 3 young children and a husband so a certain amount of daily and weekly cleaning is required. I do like to keep my bathroom and toilet clean and I have found that the best product to help me achieve this is Cif cream cleaner, I like the yellow/lemon/citrus one best.

Although it is called Cif, it will always be Jif to me, and it is a product that my mother always used and still does and it is one that I have sort of inherited but I definitely find it to be the best all round cleaning product. My bathroom is not very large, basic contents are toilet, basin, bath and shower over the bath. The bathroom is tiled from top to bottom so is quite easy to clean but has to be done often. I also have a separate wash room with a toilet and a basin, used mostly by the children so it requires constant cleaning, children are not the cleanliest creatures in the world, well at least mine aren't.

When using Cif I slightly dampen a cloth add some Cif to the cloth and wipe the surface all over with the Cif, I then wash off all the Cif. Cif is a cream cleaner and is a smooth textured product a bit like thick cream in consistency but with a little grittiness to it. After applying the Cif to the surface I rinse out the cloth and then wipe over the surface again until all the Cif has been removed. I find it is quite easy to know when the Cif has been wiped off as there is a slight chalky residue left if you do not remove the entire product. For areas that are a little bit more dirty than normal I put the Cif onto a thicker cloth or sponge and give the area a good scrub until all the dirt has been removed. The smell is not overpowering and fades quite quickly, it doesn't smell of bleach. I find Cif to be a very easy to use product and a very effective cleaner.

Cif is not antibacterial so if you are using it on surfaces that need to be germ free you would have to use some antibacterial spray after cleaning. You also need to be a bit wary of the surfaces that you use Cif on, it is not suitable for all surfaces and there is a list on the back of the container of surfaces that it is not suitable for, check before you buy it. The main surfaces it is not suitable for are textiles and aluminium. It is a cleaning product and as such should be used with care and attention, and kept away from children. Cif is not just a bathroom cleaner and I have used it in other areas such as the doors in my hall and also in my kitchen. It is a cleaning product I always have to hand and it makes daily cleaning that little bit easier.

Cif is readily available in most supermarkets or other general stores, I find the product lasts well and it not overly expensive, around £1.80 for the 500ml, also available in a 250ml container. The Cif cream cleaner is available in original or lemon fragrance. There are a number of other products in the Cif range, but I have found the cream cleaner to be the best. Cif is made by Unilever and is available all over the world.

Summary: A good reliable all round cleaning product
