Advantages: It smells lovely, it cleans too

Disadvantages: none for me

I wanted to give my kitchen a good clean yesterday, a smelly thorough cleanse that I don't do often enough so I popped up my mums to raid her cupboard under the sink. I usually use sprays of some sort so surprised myself when I picked up her bottle of Cif Cream.

I brought it home a little reluctant to use it to be honest. It's not your most attractive and modern looking cleaning product. It comes in a white plastic bottle with a green flip up lid. You can't see the product inside, you can't spray it .. shocking, and the design on the front is nothing special either. It clearly tells us it's Cif with the bright red dot above the I, and it also states it's cream, so no mistaking it with a watery or foaming substance!

The back of the bottle provides us with plenty of info, informing us that Cif Cream can tackle the toughest cleaning jobs in the kitchen, bathroom and all around the home including garden furniture and barbecues. It's a powerful and versatile formula cuts through even tough grease and limescale leaving a deep down clean and a brilliant shine, gentle on surfaces including enamel.

To use it you need to apply it to a damp sponge or cloth and wipe over the required surface. You do need to be careful when squirting it out though as it is a thin cream and pours out quite quickly.

The cream is surprisingly a cream, as much as I didn't want to believe it ... it definitely pours out as a cream, quite a thin white cream though. How on earth was this going to clean like my sprays do was my initial thought!

It has a stunningly fresh scent, lemony and crisp, clean and invigorating yet nothing too overpowering at the same time, impressive in fact!

The light refreshingly fruity scent lingered as I used it to clean and it shocked me that it wiped away some stubborn marks so easily, as well as leaving my kitchen sides gleaming and shiny. It even worked in my rotten bathroom leaving it looking sparkling white and like new! The lemon scent remained on my worktops and lingered in my bathroom for ages after use too.

Before using Cif you do need to give it a good shake, otherwise when you first squeeze it out it's like water and gradually the thickness of the cream builds up at the bottom making it totally useless when it comes to cleaning really!

Despite it being a creamy substance a little really does go along way when it comes to cleaning there is no need to keep squirting the cream out making a bottle of this definite value for money! I'm able to spread and glide my sponges and cloths with ease and I really feel it lifts up dirt brilliantly as well as leaving a thorough clean gleam to my surfaces and worktops as well as leaving a fresh, fruity fragrance.

Summary: A really good cleaner that actually works!

I haven't used cream cleaners for years - I suppose we have been seduced by sprays and foams in favour of good old fashioned cream cleaners.
