Advantages: Cleans surfaces really well

Disadvantages: None

I am a busy mum of two and there are some days when it feels like all I'm doing is cleaning up. Our kitchen especially gets filthy in what seems like a matter of minutes, so as you can imagine, we go through quite a bit of surface cleaner.

Cif is owned by Unilever and first appeared in the UK in 1974 as Jif. Their big hook was that their products didn't scratch surfaces like other cream cleaners did. They had this advert (and I still remember it - how old does that mae me feel??) that showed someone ice skating and scraching up the surface of the ice, just like other inferior brands of cleaner would scratch your surfaces!

Cif Oxy Gel was launched in 2001 and is a multi-purpose surface cleaning spray that uses an oxygen-based bleach as its active ingredient. The product comes in a 500ml spray gun and is blue. It doesn't really smell of bleach, but has a nice fresh fragrance. Definitely a smell you wouldn't mind squirting round your kitchen.

To use, just spray over the area you wish to clean and wipe off with a damp sponge. I find that with crusted-on bits of food that it's best to spray the Cif on, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe off. The Cif seems to break it down a bit so you don't have to stand there scrubbing fo ages.

I find Cif Oxy Gel Sprays to be pretty effective at lifting grime and dirt and frankly anything that means I spend less time scrubbing is going to get my vote!

Because Cif contains bleach, I would recommend everyone to wear rubber gloves while using, to avoid contact wih your eyes and not to get it near you clothes as it will leave a mark.

Cif Oxy Gel Sprays are around £2.50 for a 500ml spray. Even in our busy house this lasts for a good few weeks, so I think it's worth it.

Summary: Worth using
