Yes, it was time to go to Poundland again to treat myself to another bargain! We've just finished sprucing up the bathroom, tidying up the tiles and reapplying the silicone around the bath and basin so I thought it was time to invest in a new bathroom cleaner, maybe try something different!

During my usual browse around Poundland I noticed Cif Multi-Purpose Oxy-Gel Cleaner at the remarkable price of.....yes! you guessed it £1! Well, being one for a bargain and the fact that it was multipurpose, I just could resist. I also quite liked the sound of the fragrance - Ocean .

==A Bit About The Product==

Manufactured by Unilever Cif was first released in France in 1969, not reaching the shelves in Britain until 1974, when it was first called Jif. Jif changed the outlook on cleaning as it was the first non-scratch cleaner. In 2001 Jif also became Cif in Britain, in keeping with the rest of Europe and this was also when Oxy-Gel was launched. This cleaner is suitable for any kind of cleaning as the name multi-purpose would suggest, floors, surfaces, baths, toilets etc. and is also suitable for use on all types of washable surfaces, enamel, metal, plastic, ceramic etc., although it does state on the bottle not to be used on marble, painted surfaces and linoleum and if using on plastics it should be rinsed immediately, this is a very versatile cleaning product. The Oxy-Gel is easy to apply to surfaces in a controlled manner using the trigger action spray dispenser. It is sold in a clear plastic bottle making it easy to see when you need to buy more. The bottle narrows at the top allowing you to hold and spray easily.

As with most of these cleaning products this one should not be used on fabrics and you should really avoid contact with the skin. I don't like wearing rubber gloves but I always give my hands a good wash after use.

==My Views==

Although this cleaner looks quite watery in the bottle and not much like a gel I found that when I applied to surfaces like the sides of the bath the gel didn't just run down and into the bottom of the bath like some other cleaners I have tried. It did run down slightly but I found the gel did also cling to the sides. Once applied you are supposed to leave for a few seconds before wiping off. The active oxygen base is supposed to help lift the dirt particles from the surface being cleaned, which in turn are then held in the gel before being wiped away. This product also contains bleach to help kill germs and disinfect. The gel, being quite thin, was very easy to wipe away leaving a nice shiny looking, clean surface. I found this a good product to use, which left my bathroom with what I can only describe as a squeaky-clean feel to it and a pleasant, clean, but subtle aroma with no bleach smell. Although advised on the bottle to just spray on and wipe away I always shower the bath after wiping.

I would definitely recommend this product and will be using it again, even if I do have to buy it at a more expensive price, but I am quite happy to buy it from Poundland while they have it in stock. The 500ml bottle usually lasts me about 3 weeks.

I have seen this cleaner for sale at prices ranging from £1.29 - £2.23 for 500ml so Poundland is definitely the cheapest.
