Making light work of cleaning (Cif Oxy Clean Orchid Gel Spray)

I was in my pound shop on Saturday when I noticed they had got a lot of different Cif cleaning products on the shelves. I picked up a few different bottles because I like Cif but I have noticed that they are getting more and more expensive in the supermarket and I have been looking for cheaper alternatives so it was nice to be able to stock up on Cif.

I chose Cif Oxy Clean Orchid Gel Spray because it is a nice bright pinky red colour in the bottle and I like pretty colours when it comes to cleaning products because such mundane tasks as cleaning the toilet or bath need to be brightened up.

I gave my bungalow a spring clean yesterday and can tell you that this variety of Cif worked perfectly on everything I cleaned with it. I started in the kitchen and successfully cleaned my cooker hob that wasn't really dirty but needed to be made to sparkle again, the outside of my toaster and kettle, my work surfaces and the fridge freezer doors. Everything looked much cleaner after using this gel spray on it and I could see from my cleaning cloth that the dirt had definitely been lifted off the things I was cleaning and had been deposited on my cloth.

The gel is very easy to use. It has a trigger spray on the bottle and I thought it was accurate when I came to spray it, even when I had to clean in the little corner behind my bread bin in was easy to direct the spray just to hit that corner because I had already cleaned that work surface and did not want to get the spray all over it again. When I shook the bottle I saw the gel move in a gloopy way so I knew them saying that it was a gel was not just a gimmick and I think the idea of it being a gel is because gel will coat the dirt better and pick it up easier than liquid spray. When I spray it the cleaner comes out in a wide arc and it does look a little bit thicker than normal liquid sprays but not very much. I then usually leave the cleaner to work for a few minutes before wiping it off with a clean damp cloth. It did not leave any residue on my surfaces and wiped off very easily.

Then I cleaned my bathroom and it was a success in there as well. My toilet, bath and sink were spotless clean after I had given them nothing more than a spray of Cif Oxy gel spray and then a very quick wipe with a scouring pad followed by a kettle of boiling water to get rid of any germs. I also used the spray on my plastic laundry basket and it got rid of all the bits that had got trapped in the creases of the basket. It worked very well when I sprayed it on the floor and mopped over it and my tiles looked shiny and very clean.

The Cif spray did not leave any stains or marks on any of the surfaces I used it on. I did take note of the warnings on the bottle though that told me not to use it on varnished or wooden surfaces because cleaners like this can damage the varnish and soak into the wood leaving dark patches that can be impossible to remove. I liked the smell of this Cif cleaner because it smelt fresh and left a very clean scent in my rooms. It didn't have much of a smell but I could smell a little bit of a floral aroma in it and I thought it was very nice.

I would think this spray would cost about £1. 79 in the supermarket and I do think it is worth that because it made my cleaning very easy and took a lot of the struggle out it. The fumes or smell did not make me wheezy and I didn't cough while I was using it even when I used it in my utility room which is not very well ventilated.

Summary: A very good all round cleaner
