Advantages: Cleans like a dream
Disadvantages: The advert puts you off
I bought a bottle of cilit bang spray after reading a positive review on Dooyoo from someone like me who is totally put off by the most annoying advertisement.
I put it in my cupboard and still didn't use it, every time I looked at the bottle I heard the annoying man's voice shouting at me so I used another product.
Today I decided it was time to give my kitchen and cooker a good clean so decided it was time to put this little bottle to the test.
The instructions state to always use a test patch but I ignored this advice although I don't advise others to do the same.
It advises to spay 20cm away from surface then leave for a maximum of one minute before wiping off with a cloth then rinse thoroughly with water.
I sprayed the foam on the work surfaces, cooker and tiles at the back of the cooker. I left them all for a couple of minutes. Although it does come out like foam it is still very watery and ran down the front of the cooker and tiles onto the floor. I used a sponge cloth to wipe spray off so as that I would see how much the spray had actually done. I was actually surprised on the affects it had on grease more than anything. The cooker top was gleaming unlike I have seen it with any other product. The inside if the over did need a couple of applications and I did scrub it with a wire scorer but it was in particular need of attention. The grease just wiped off the tiles. The work surfaces looked no better or worse and took equal amounts of effort to clean them but they are wiped over regularly thought out the day. I then wiped over my stainless steel bin which always seems to look streaky after wiping and I was very impressed to discover that not only did my bin look shiny but also had no streaks.
I was so impressed that I decided to see how it worked on other surfaces.
My first experiment was on the side of the bath which seems to be nicotine stained from the last tenants and I have tried all sorts of products but have had no success. I sprayed ¾ of the side of the bath and left a ¼ to compare and left it for a minute. I also sprayed the bath taps at the same time. After wiping the side panel of the bath I could see a difference in the discolouration. The side panel was once again shiny.
I then for my final experiment decided to do the penny test as shown on the advert. I got a two pence coin and laid it on a piece of kitchen roll and then sprayed directly on the coin. After one minute I wiped the coin with the kitchen roll. The result was dramatic and although it wasn't perfect it did have the look of a new coin.
It does have a strong Chemical smell and judging by the cautions and advice given should you come into contact with the skin then I consider it would be a very corrosive product so must be kept well out of reach of little one's.
I can honestly say it is a long time since I have been so impressed with a product and one I would highly recommend.
I also recommend that they remove the annoying man from the advert as many more people would be prepared to give it a try.
Summary: highly recommended
