I absolutely adore candles. A couple of years ago I got in to the Yankee Candle candles and since then I have been a regular attendee of PartyLite parties. It is fair to say that I love everything about candles. I have candles making up a centrepiece on my dining table and I have candles on basically every windowsill in my home too. I am always on the look out for some candles and my favourites including lavender ones, vanilla ones and citrus ones. I actually spotted this candle in Poundland and decided to give it a sniff. It smelt quite nice and so I figured for £1.00 I'd give it a punt!

This candle looks quite nice as it comes in a tin with a lid. I think this makes it look more expensive than the £1.00 that I paid. The front of the tin shows the flavour (French Vanilla) and says 'scented candle in a tin' (just in case you hadn't got that!). I found this tin to be simple to open and close although I only ended up doing this a few times.

This candle is a lovely creamy colour that looks just like the vast majority of vanilla candles that I have purchased in the past. The scent of this candle is quite nice. These was a nice vanilla flavour without being too overpowering initially and I could smell this when I sniffed this candle in the shop. However once this candle had been burning for more than 5 or 10 minutes the scent began to change and this smelt quite artificial and it ended up giving me a headache after a short period of time. I actually stopped burning the candle because of this. I wondered if this was a one off so I lit it again the following day and once again the scent became very strong and overpowering.

After using this candle twice it has been destined for the bin unfortunately. Usually if I have something that is just not the right scent for me I would happily give it away on Freecycle or to a friend but in this case I have just been so disappointed with the overpowering artificial scent that I would not be happy passing this on to someone else.

The only way I could recommend this candle was if you wanted it for decorative purposes only and were never going to light it. The price may be a bargain and the packaging may be nice looking but the candle itself is just not very nice at all. I am giving this 2/5 because the tin is pretty and the price is low but I would not recommend this candle.
