I have owned my d-fuzz-it comb for a few years now. I bought it in a department store and it seemed at the time that it would be the answer to a problem I had came across many many times: the bobbling of knitwear, blankets and some other clothing.
The comb has proved to be a brilliant purchase which I have used many times since purchase and I wouldn't be without it.
'Bobbly bits' as I used to call them when I was a child, are something which have always bugged me as far back as I can remember. I can recall having sheets and blankets on my bed as a child before duvets became popular and there was one woollen blanket in particular which was covered in these 'bobbly bits' and I spent ages picking them all off the blanket by hand. Indeed I could not settle until my work was done and the entire blanket was bobble free!
In later years, it was the bobbling of any knitwear which bugged me and I would always pick the bits off, although it seemed impossible to restore the item to anything similar to what it was when first purchased.
So the day I spotted the 'd-fuzz-it' comb in a department store whilst out shopping, it certainly grabbed my interest. It was only around the £2 mark when I purchased mine and seemed a great idea to rid any items from bobbling.
The comb is plastic with metal teeth which are quite rough and sharp. It is easily held in your hand and you simply comb the item and the bobbles are removed. The comb promises to remove sweater fuzz in seconds as well as fuzz from all woven and knitted fabrics. Suitable to use on coats, blankets, cardigans and sweaters of wool, cashmere and acrylic.
The first time I used this comb was on my daughter's school jumper and I was impressed at how easy it was to use and how the comb 'shaved' the jumper, leaving it looking almost like new again.
I then set about de-fuzzing everything I could get my hands on! On larger items I find it easier to lay the item on a table or the ironing board and use sweeping movements downwards with one hand, whilst holding the item at the top with the other hand.
The comb effectively removes all bobbling and leaves garments looking restored to a condition similar to when new. You must be careful however if the fabric of the garment is thin, as you can cause the fabric to become thinner still by removing bobbling, but as someone who can't bear to wear anything with any bobbling showing, this is something I prefer to do regardless of the fabric.
I recently purchased a white cotton/polyester vest top and was wearing a black acrylic cardigan over the top the first time I wore it. When I later removed my cardigan I was disappointed to see some black bobbling on my top down each side, but this was quickly removed with my comb and restored to its new condition within seconds.
As mentioned, the metal teeth are rough and sharp and so you need to be careful you don't catch your hand on them, which is easily done when using the comb or when removing fluff from then teeth, or you can give yourself a nasty scratch. Also you must keep this comb out of the reach of children.
As it is small and lightweight, it is handy to take with you when travelling too.
Despite having had my comb for a long time and using it regularly, it shows no signs of any wear and tear and so this comb is a purchase which I can imagine never needing to be replaced.
The d-fuzz-it comb is something I couldn't personally be without and so I am more than happy to recommend it to everyone. It is available from Amazon priced at £3-£4 and is a cheap, practical solution to those bobbling problems.
