Advantages: Lovely smelling laundry, nice smelling house

Disadvantages: Expensive

I've always loved fabric softeners, especially when drying clothes on hot radiators, which makes the house smell nice too - so I decided to treat myself to some of Comfort's new Sweet Almond Oil.

~What is Comfort?~
Comfort is a fabric softener, which will soften your clothes and make them smell nice after they've been washed with soap powder. It's made by Unilever, who also make products such as Dove and Domestos, and food products like Wall's and Bird's Eye.

Comfort was created in 1969, with a re-launch in 1980 making it even better, with nicer scents and greater softness. Comfort currently have seven different fragrances/types of fabric softener, and have now introduced two more in the new Comfort Creme range. Comfort makes up 20% of the world's fabric softeners market, and is the number one softener in 14 out of the 23 coutries where it's sold.
~What is the Comfort Creme range?~

Comfort's latest products are marketed on being luxurious fabric conditioners, for you to treat yourself and your clothes to. The Comfort Creme comes in two fragrances: Sweet Almond Oil, and Jojoba Oil. You can obtain a free 100ml sample of Sweet Almond Oil and the chance to win a pashmina, at http://www.comfortcreme.com/.
~So what's the Sweet Almond Oil like?~

I bought my 750ml bottle, from Tescos and it cost £1.99. To compare this with Comfort's other fragrances (not concentrated), they come in one litre bottles, and cost 88p in Tescos.
Upon opening the bottle, I could immediately smell the frangrance. It's very pleasant, and reminded me of a shampoo smell, rather than the usual fabric softener smell - which can have a nasty twang to it sometimes.

Comfort Creme is concentrated, so you don't need to use a huge amount each wash and the cap can be used to measure out the correct amount. On pouring the softener out of the bottle, I could see that it was a cream colour but also slightly shimmery. It seemed a little watery compared to other softeners, and this surprised me, especially since it's a concentrate.
~So what were the results?~

The first time I used it was when washing my coat, and a jacket. The second time I used it I'd washed my bedding. In both cases the smell was apparent as soon as I opened the washer door. It wasn't overpowering, but a little stronger than I'd have liked.
I dried my coat on the radiator, and my bedding outside on the washing line. I had the radiators on, and very soon the Almond Oil scent filled the house. Again, it wasn't over-powering and I liked it - it was like having a free air-freshener!

When I took my coat off the radiator the scent was still quite strong, and I imagine anyone wearing a perfume may not like this as it might clash. Personally I liked it but sadly it only lasted a couple of days. However I did wear my coat in a smoky pub on the second night, so the scent might have lasted longer if I hadn't done that.
When I fetched my bedding from off the washing line, the scent wasn't as strong as it was on my coat. I was pleased about this, because I thought it maybe would have given me a headache having too strong a scent in bed. I could still smell the Almond Oil about five days after washing my bedding, and I thought this was really good - especially since my dog sleeps on my bed!

Every time I've used Comfort Creme I've had a similar effect. In my previous experience, if I dry anything on the washing line after using an ordinary fabric softener, by the time I bring it in I can't smell the softener at all. The fact that Sweet Almond Cream was still there five days later was amazing to me. I often used to buy linen sprays to freshen my bedding up, but have no need to if I use Comfort Creme.
~Verdict~

I personally didn't notice any difference in the softness of the things I washed. I've yet to try it with towels, so there might be a noticable difference with those. However, I'd still buy this again, even though it's more than double the price of ordinary softener, because of the long-lasting scent.
I've done around five washes with Comfort Creme altogether, with about half the bottle remaining. Working out about 40p a wash is very expensive, but I think it's worth it. I don't use Comfort Creme with every wash, but for bedding and clothing that I use a lot, I'd certainly wash them with this.

**Comfort Creme should be available in most supermarkets at approx. £1.99 for 750ml**
