Advantages: Got it as a free sample

Disadvantages: Sticky residue left on base, deodorant loves to stick to it leaving lots of marks

I, like most other people I'm sure, don't like ironing and I avoid it where ever possible. However as I have to wear shirts for work everyday I am forced to iron at least those every week.

When I first moved in with my girlfriend, both of us coming from having lived at home with our parents, we had set up our home on quite a small budget so we had ended up with a cheap kettle, toaster etc, as we could not justify spending too much on something which essentially does the same job as the most basic and cheapest ones available.

One of our budget purchases was a cheap steam iron. We went for a steam iron as from experience we both knew that the steam function really does help make ironing easier. It worked fairly well though was harder work than perhaps it could have been. We received a sample of Comfort Easy Iron Fabric Conditioner in a goody bag handed to us in our shopping centre. We decided to give it a try, after all, anything that promises to make ironing easier is welcomed!!!

The product is used the same as any other fabric conditioner, it goes in the machine with your washing during the wash cycle and you wash the clothes as normal.

When we came to do the ironing, we were looking forward to the ironing being really really easy..... As it turned out, it was actually harder to iron the clothes! The iron kept sticking on the fabric, which caused it to drag and ended up causing lots more creases. We were rather disappointed! We looked at the base of the iron and noticed that the sticking was caused by a residue that was building up.

We turned the iron up to full temperature, got a smooth cloth and dragged the iron over it to remove the residue. Once we had done that we began ironing again and it did seem quite easy but it didn't take long for the residue to build up again and caused it to stick again. Not very impressive.

Another problem I noticed was that, as with other fabric conditioners I have used in the past, the use of fabric conditioners really increases the amount of deodorant marks left on clothes. I wear pretty much only black clothes, and have done for years, as such I am very aware of white marks on my clothes and in the past having tried loads of different deodorants of all sorts, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is really caused by the use of fabric conditioners which the deodorant seems to stick to. This conditioner suffered from this problem too. This combined with the sticky residue left on the iron we stopped using the product and threw the rest away.

We have since got ourselves a new and much better iron which has a ceramic base rather than a stainless steel one. This has made a huge difference to our ironing, far more so than any fabric conditioner could ever have!!!

Summary: I wouldn't recommend this at all.
