Advantages: Leaves clothes soft
Disadvantages: A sickening fragrance
When it comes to buying washing products (for clothes etc) I don't have a brand I am particularly loyal to. I normally buy whatever is on offer at the time. I don't have many wants when it comes to fabric conditioners, as long as my clothes, towels, bed linen etc come out clean, soft and smell nice then to me the fabric conditioner I have used is perfectly fine! I'm not fussy on fragrances, colours or whether they are easy iron etc, just as long as my clothes come out nice then that is all I am bothered about.
On my latest trip to Tesco Comfort had a big offer across their whole fabric conditioner range and the choice was rather tough! In the end I opted for the Comfort Exhil Strawberry and Lily Kiss fabric softener/conditioner. I chose it simply because I like strawberries and I like lilies so the choice wasn't particularly hard, especially when the bottle itself is pink as well as the liquid, yes I let the true girliness in me pick this product! Apart from the pinkness, Comfort is a reputable brand which I have used before and have had good results.
Comfort Exhils Strawberry and Lily Kiss fabric softener comes in a plastic shaped bottle with a screw in pink top which can double as a measurer. The bottle itself has a large pink plastic type label which is decorated with images of lilies and strawberries which really is quite fitting! The Comfort logo is on the front and on the back there are the usual usage instructions and the ingredients list together with the list of do's and don'ts. I have the 1.5 litre bottle and it clearly states with a little image on the front that it can do 34 washes, the 750ml bottle states 21 washes.
The fabric softener itself as I said above is pink in colour, it is a light pink which is perfectly fitting with the fragrance. However, what I expected to be light and floral with a sweet note to it but what I got was something more sickly sweet with a synthetic base to it which is certainly not to my liking. I found the overall fragrance a bit sickening which was a shame but as I wasn't going to waste a full 1.5 litre bottle I went ahead and used it regardless. The consistency of this fabric softener is as you would expect water like which is fine, you just have to watch how much you use in order to get the amount of washes it says it can deliver.
Using the fabric conditioner is pretty simple as you just pour the certain amount in your washing machine draw. I've used this fabric softener for just over a month now on all types of clothing, towels and bed linen and I have done by line drying, tumble drying and on a clothes horse and I do find that certain ways of drying clothes can distort the fragrance of a fabric softener (how sad is it that I know that or came to that conclusion!). I find with some fabric conditioners they just don't make the clothes soft enough and when leaving to dry naturally clothes need to end up soft!
Despite the sickly sweet synthetic fragrance that this fabric softener has the aroma doesn't completely stay when the clothes have been washed which was something I liked. The fragrance is a lot softer and not as sweet which is a lot nicer. The clothes turned out lovely and soft when dry even the towels and jeans which are usually the toughest of items to become soft when dried naturally but this fabric softener really did manage to get all items soft. Even when put away all the items had quite a lovely soft, floral fragrance which certainly lasts for quite some time, the fragrance is definitely a lot nicer (and certainly not as sickly) when diluted with water.
Overall, I do like this fabric softener I just don't like the fragrance when smelt from the bottle as it is just sickly sweet. However, on the plus side it makes the clothes and all the other items washed lovely and soft and leaves them with a nice, subtle more floral aroma which lasts. I don't think I'd buy this particular variety from Comfort but would buy again from the same range. Definitely a recommendation though as the items washed speak for themselves. I would give this fabric softener 4 stars, knocking 1 star off simply because of the fragrance.
