Advantages: Gorgeous smell, soft clothes, easy to use, good price
Disadvantages: None!
I'm a bit of a sucker for new products on the market, especially when they are on an introductory offer! So when I saw this new Comfort fragrance in their range of Fabric Softeners, I just couldn't resist! Not to mention its vibrant orange colour, it smelt lovely in the bottle, really tropically and fresh, so I decided I would just have to have a bottle to take home with me. Luckily for me the 1.5 litre bottle was on offer, so I took one of those!
Comfort are a well known brand in the Fabric Softeners market, probably most well known for their Comfort Pure products which are marketed at new mums as the products are safe for use on newborn babies clothes. But recently, they have been marketing their other fabric conditioners, and this one is part of 2 new fragrances they have launched with have "tropical freshness" and their new fresh-release technology to keep your clothes smelling fresh. The new tropical ones are in stores now, you may have seen them all bright and colourful in the Laundry section of your supermarket!
Now this particular one is the Tropical Burst fragrance. The other one also available in the shops now is lime green in colour and called 'Tempting Nature'. It comes in the normal Comfort bottle, with a larger base in the bottle, tapering up to the lid. It has the Comfort teardrop on the front of the bottle, with lot of bright colours on the picture, with 'Tropical Burst' at the bottom. You can't miss this one on the shelves, it is bright orange liquid with a bright orange cap on the bottle too, so it stands out a bit! The bottle described this fragrance as being 'Bursting with the fruity fragrances of peach and mango, plus hint of creamy coconut". Sounds good enough to eat, doesn't it?
Using it is easy-peasy. Even my other half could manage it, and that's saying something. Simply measure out a capful of the liquid in the cap supplied with your bottle (perhaps only use half a cap for smaller washes) and pop into the appropriate drawer on your washing machine. That's it. Now, the smaller 750 ml bottle will suffice for around 20 washes, and the larger 1.5 litre bottle will get you around 40 washes, and is much better value for money. Obviously, the amount of fabric conditioner you use will depend on how big your wash is, but I usually use a capful as I do a lot of washing and I want it all to be fragranced nicely, and so that I can smell it!
When I took my washing out of the machine, I was a bit disappointed because I couldn't really smell anything, tropical or otherwise. I had a good sniff of the clothes, and when I inhaled deeply, I could smell a hint of tropical but not very strong and not at all what I had expected given how strong the fragrance was in the bottle. But I carried on hanging up on my washing on my airers and left the washing there for the rest of the day to dry nicely in my bedroom, so no other smells could attack it (i.e. from my kitchen!).
Later that evening, I went back to take my washing down and fold it ready for ironing and I got a very nice surprise! My washing did finally smell of tropical freshness! I didn't have to smell hard to get the fragrance, and it just lingered nicely in the washing. It wasn't over-powering like some of these fragrances can be, but it was nice and subtle, and very fresh smelling! I especially noticed it when I was changing Harry's bed and putting on his Thomas the Tank duvet. As I smoothed out the duvet, I got a strong whiff of a tropical smell, and it was lovely! Even 4 days after changing it, the smell is still there and is gorgeous. All our clothes are lovely and soft, especially after ironing and I love the smell which comes off the tropical-smelling clothes as I iron them! I can definitely smell the peach and mango, and after a while, you get the hints of the coconut comes through, which is nice against the fresh fruity-ness of the mango (the stronger of the fruit smells) and the peach.
I'm really impressed with this product, and I think it will definitely be one I will continue using for a while. I've decided I'm going to get another bottle while it is still on offer so I get even better value for my money! As mentioned, you can buy this in a 750ml size, which costs around £1.33, or the larger 1.5 litre size for £2.65, although I got it for £1.98 in Sainsburys...bargain!
They currently have a web site for the new fragrances, www.comforttropical.co.uk, which has a free sample on it. You get a small sachet of each fragrance, 1 wash each, so you can try them before you buy, as well as a money-off coupon. If you are wanting to try it after this review, this is an ideal way to do so! I really would recommend you try it, it's left my clothes smelling gorgeous and feeling so soft, and hasn't irritated Harry's skin at all either.
Thank you for reading!
