Comfort Fabric Conditioner Tropical Burst
Advantages: lovely smell, leaves clothes soft, no irritation
Disadvantages: None for me
When it comes to washing clothes, fabric softener is something I could never do without. I tend to stick to either Comfort or Lenor and usually stock up on whatever is on offer. Recently Tesco had an offer on Comfort with 1.5L bottles, enough for 42 washes, selling at just £1.85. Ordinarily this retails at around £3.30, so it represented quite a saving! I made the most of this offer and stocked up on a few bottles which will see me through the next few months until the next offer comes around!
Whilst I was growing up my Mum had a preference for Comfort and I remember that it was always the blue coloured liquid. In recent years though, the brand has grown and added many other scents to their range of fabric softeners. I must have tried most of these but one of my favourites is the Tropical Burst variety. I'm sure what draws me to it initially is the bright orange colour, which is reminiscent of a hot summers day and at this time of year, where it is still pretty cold, dull and grey, it does have a mood-lifting effect!
The liquid comes in a transparent bottle topped with a bright orange lid. According to the label on the front this liquid has 100% more longer lasting freshness compared to concentrated Comfort Pure. There are clear instructions at the back of the bottle for how to use the product. For large loads pour a capful of the liquid into the washing machine and for normal loads, half a capful should do. I usually operate my washing machine with a full load, so use an entire capful each time I wash my clothes. The liquid is poured directly into the fabric softener compartment of the washing machine drawer. This fabric softener is also suitable for hand washing, in which case 18ml or around ¼ of a capful should be used. The liquid should always be added either into the correct compartment in the machine drawer or mixed in with the water when hand washing. It should never be applied directly to clothes.
As soon as the bottle is opened the scent of the fabric softener wafts around the room. The smell is what I would describe as sweet and fruity and in my opinion is delightful. Once my washing is done, and as soon as I open the machine door, this scent is the first thing I notice. It's not what I would describe as overpowering, but it is certainly noticeable. The tropical burst Comfort also does an excellent job of softening my clothes - they come out untangled and very soft to the touch. It is particularly noticeable with towels, where on occasion when I have run out of fabric softener or used a 2 in 1 liquid my towels come out stiff and scratchy. With this softener they always come out soft and fluffy with a sweet and delicate scent.
I tend to dry my clothes indoors during the winter months and as they dry on the rack; my flat is filled with the delicate, fruity aroma of the fabric softener, which completely dominates the scent of the Persil washing liquid that I use. Incidentally the Comfort range of fabric softeners have been recommended by Persil (well, they are both manufactured by Unilever, so it should come as no surprise!) Once dry the scent remains for a few days - this is something that I love, particularly on freshly washed bed linen, which I find very comforting. I do tend to have quite sensitive skin and have had some problems in the past with itchy skin when I have changed detergent or fabric softener. I am pleased to report that there is no such problem in this case.
Overall, I am very impressed with this offering from Comfort and cannot find fault with it so it receives the full five stars from me.
Summary: A great fabric softener from Comfort
