Advantages: Light scent, good softness
Disadvantages: None
I've never been a huge fan of scented fabric conditioners but I do think that washing benefits from conditioner being added to the wash. I tend to dry my washing on a line when it's warm and dry enough to do so and over airers in our utility room when it's not. I don't tumble dry at all. I therefore prefer unscented or very mildly scented products and having been brought up in a house where Comfort was the first choice it was a very natural step to trying Comfort Pure. Pure is recommended for baby clothes too and so I wasn't too worried about irritation caused by using a different fabric conditioner.
Pure is available in a concentrated version and a standard version and I have bought both, depending on which is on offer at the time. There is a difference in the consistency of the products and the amount you have to use to achieve the desired results but, other than that, I have found both to perform to the same standard.
The conditioner itself is a pearly-white colour. It's not unscented but has a wonderful gentle smell which will forever remind me of babies for some reason. It's a hard smell to describe. It's not floral but neither is it a chemical smell. I don't think that I'd be far off the mark were I to describe it as a clean smell.
The scent in the bottle does continue over to the wash but not in such concentrations that you'd get the washing out and think "my, that's a good/bad smell". Washing is left smelling fresh and, if you happen to have a detergent that leaves a smell then it is this that will predominate rather than the conditioner (something I found out when I bought lavender wash powder by mistake!).
Washing definitely comes out softer when compared to washing without fabric conditioner. You'll never get that "tumble-dried" softness to towels and the such like but it is marked improvement on washing without any conditioner. I've found that Pure is successful at reducing pilling on fabrics that are prone to going bobbly.
Neither myself, nor any member of my household has suffered any kind of reaction to this product (and I have been known to find that certain conditioners make me itch).
Overall, I think this product is great in terms of softeness and smell. I have since found some scented products from Comfort that I like (notably their Comfort Crème (both varieties) and a new Summer scent) but I think I will always go back to this very lightly scented staple.
Summary: A great, low-scent fabric conditioner

- 04/02/08 I don't tend to add prices, unless they're really relevant as they are prone to change. I've looked it up on Tescos site and today it's priced at £1.54 for 2l (standard). |
