Advantages: Lovely smell, keeps your iron free from limescale, cheap

Disadvantages: Nothing

I'm not a fan of ironing to be honest, I find it time consuming, boring and I get too hot and bothered doing it in the summer! But of course I can't let me family go around looking all creased, especially my other half who has to wear shirts every day. So when I saw in the lcoal pound shop that they had Comfort Vaporesse in there, I thought for just £1 it would be worth a try. It was the original type that I tried, but I wasn't overly keen on the smell so when in Sainsburys, I checked the laundry aisle and found that there is another fragrance of Vaporesse, yay!

Comfort Vaporesse is basically an ironing water which aids ironing, prevents your iron getting clogged up with limescale and helps fragrance your clothes because of its scent. There are currently 2 different fragrances on the market. One of these is just the original which comes in a clear 1 litre plastic bottle with blue labelling and a blue cap. The second is this one I am reviewing, which is the Lily and Ricefwer variety, with pink labelling and a pink cap as well. The smells are very different, with the blue variety being a bit stronger, whereas this one is more delicate and floral.

Using the liquid is very easy indeed. You unscrew the cap on the top, and there is a pouring spout attached to the bottle for easy dispensing of the liquid. Then you just pour it into your iron as you would normally do with water until your iron reservoir is full. Then screw on the cap again, otherwise you might end up spilling it as I did, whoops! I find that the 1 litre bottle lasts me about 2 weeks, with 3 big ironing loads a week. The clear bottle allows you to easily see how much is left, so you can stock up when its running low which is handy. However, you must never pour the liquid from the iron back into the bottle, because it is going to be boiling hot and may disintegrate the plastic bottle, and burn you too.

Now for the all important smell test. When I first smelt this, I noticed how different it was from the original, and I instantly preferred it. The smell of this one is much softer and more floral, with a nice sweet smell I presume to be the lilies coming through nicely. I knew I would be able to smell the fragrance strongly when it was in the bottle, but I was curious to see how strong the scent would be when it was turned into steam when I was ironing. So I heated up my iron and started ironing normally. Quickly though, I noticed that the smell around me was the Vaporesse. It was nice and sweet, but not too over-powering which was really good. There was lots of steam coming from the iron, and the more it steamed, the more the smell around me grew and it was lovely!

When I had ironed my huge pile of clothes, I took one of Harry's t-shirts fom the bottom of the pile so it was one of the first items I had ironed, as I wanted to see if the Vaporesse had fragranced the cothes at all. I had a big sniff and indeed there was definitely a floral smell of his top that hadn't been there before. I was very impressed! I found that my other half's shirts were the items of clothing which smelt the most strongly of the Vaporesse, perhaps because the cotton is much thinner than on trousers or t-shirts, but he was impressed at how nicely his clothes smelt!

Comfort Vaporesse is definitely a product which has made my ironing and nicer and much more pleasant experience that it has ever been! The nice smell quickly surrounds you as your iron releases the fragranced water as steam, and it left all of my clothes lightly fragranced and very soft too. The easy pour spout prevents spillages when putting the water into the iron, and the clear bottle allows you to keep an eye on how much you have left. I can't really comment on the preventing limescale part of its claims but if it does do that, then even better! At 99 pence for a 1 litre bottle in Sainsburys, this is great value and it does last me a couple of weeks. I'd thoroughly recomend it! O, and the bottle is recyclable too, so please do so!

This is the sort of liquid I can put down my steam cleaner and makes all hard floored areas smelling sweet as well as the iron of course! Handy for those who buy cheap washing powders AND have to do ironing.
