Advantages: essetial for getting wine out of bottle
Disadvantages: ?
AT2 AT3 AT4 A corkscrew is not just for Christmas. I shall be using one at Christmas but I do use one at other times as well they do not get completely forgotten and neglected. You are going to need one if you are going to open that lovely bottle of wine for your Christmas dinner, remember the shops are not open so you can not pop out to buy one if you forget. I do not recommend trying to open your wine with your teeth or a screwdriver, a sharp knife or trying to make a hole in it with a knitting needle to let the wine drip out. Be carefull you do not get cork in the wine . If you do strain through a clean teastrainer If you forget a corkscrew you could always take the bottle to your neighbours and beg to borrow theirs but the odds are they will be using theirs. I have had, and still have several corkscrews over my drinking years. I have an heirloom, which is just a metal screw the metal flowing out of the top of the screw is shaped like a horses head. This rarely gets used the horses head is a bit sharp on my hands. I don’t think it is very old just one my mum and dad had and I took when I left home. I have a wooden corkscrew, which is about 30 years old it is a double action one. Where you screw the screw in the cork, the screwdriver has like a wooden case surrounding it after you have fully inserted the screw you turn the tap like bar at the top of the screwdriver and this levers the corkscrew out. I have seen many corkscrews like this. It is easy to use. I have another one which is just a straight pull completely metal, no idea where it came from its been lurking in the bottom of my cutlery draw for years waiting to be used I rarely use it as it makes my fingers sore when I try and pull it out. I have a tiny little corkscrew I take on holiday; a little one I got free from somewhere. There is also a screwdriver on m
y husband’s penknife, a useful tool. I have had others lingering over the years one which had a lever arm which you pulled to extricate the cork from the bottle. Corkscrews cost from around £2.50p upwards Well I might just go and try one of my corkscrews just now I have a very nice bottle of red wine in the pantry. Well if you do or if you do not use a corkscrew this Christmas have a happy Christmas thanks for reading LOL Mary oh yes baby Adrian my grandchild slept 5 hours solid last night his parents look forward to sleeping all night without distubance.
