Advantages: Cheap, Effective

Disadvantages: Strong Smell

I can be a bit of a brand snob when it comes to cleaning products. There's nothing worse than having to scrub three times as hard with a product, just for the sake of having saved 30p! So I was a bit dubious when the Mrs bought home this Daisy Kitchen Trigger Cleaner from Tesco. Daisy is the new 'discount brand' in Tesco, and I don't think it rates much higher up the brand credibility scale than Tesco Value. This costs only 46p for a 500ml bottle, which includes a trigger spray attachment, and I have to say I've been very pleasantly surprised with the results.

I first used this after taking over the dinner one night, and making an awful mess of the cooker. I'd done a lasagne, which is not my forte, and gotten tomato and cheese sauce all over the cooker. That'll teach me not to ignore the instruction 'stir continuously'. Anyway, after finishing up with the food, I had to tackle the mess I'd made - and all I could find to hand was this new cheapy kitchen cleaner.

I squirted it onto the stains and waited a minute or two, just to give it the chance to sink in a bit and (hopefully) do some damage on the stains. I was extremely pleasantly surprised to find that when I wiped it off with a damp cloth, it bought all of the sauce stains with it. I really did not think such a cheap cleaner could achieve such fast results.

I've used this a few times since, and been equally impressed with the results. It cleans really effectively, even when used on dried-on stains. It does sometimes need leaving on for ten minutes to really sink in, but once it has done it really does lift even very awkward stains. I like that this has a clean smell to it, though it is a little bit on the harsh side I noticed. I also like that this leaves kitchen sides and cookers with a nice clean shine to them - much as you'd expect from the likes of Cif or Mr Muscle (which cost about four times the price).

For 46p you can't go wrong with this. I can't see any difference between the results I get from this, and those I get from using the expensive brand name versions. The only noticeable difference is that this is a bit more potent, but it's not an unpleasant smell anyway - just a strong one. Even the packaging is very good quality, with the trigger spray being sturdy and easy to use. I'll never waste my money on Mr Muscle again!

Sounds great, and 46p is a more realistic price for that tiny amount of ionic surfactant that does the job.

I can't believe the price for this - total bargain!
