Advantages: Does the job for a cheaper price.

Disadvantages: Doesn't have the same quality as 'Fairy'.

Daisy Washing Up Liquid 500ml

***What's it like***

I can't be alone in noticing that Tesco has massively increased it's value range of products by introducing the brand 'Daisy' (with red and yellow discount brands logo plastered on the packaging) to it's inventory.

One thing that intrigues me is if it is possible to produce quality products at a cheaper price - then why haven't they just done it before? Oh, I know they weren't as desperate for our custom back then!

Anyway in the interests of research I donned my marigolds and set about washing the breakfast dishes (as the dishwasher was full and I didn't have the energy to empty it at this point!).

It comes in 500ml and the original is a green liquid in a see through bottle, it has a daisy logo on the packaging at the front.

When I opened the bottle it had a pleasant enough fresh smell. When I ran the water and added the liquid, I did perhaps need a bit more than I would have used if it had been Fairy Liquid - it didn't seem as concentrated. There were plenty of suds and I managed to wash all of the breakfast dishes with no problems and there were still suds left in at the end.

I usually put most things in the dishwasher except for roasting tins etc. So after tea I also tried in on the heavier soiled pots and pans. Again, I feel that it did ok. The smell doesn't seem as strong while you are washing up - but I am not bothered about that, I just want clean dishes. I still again had some suds left and the roasting dishes were cleaned as normal.

If anything, I found that I needed to perhaps rinse my dishes a little more at the end as the suds stick on to the pots.

***Opinion***

Will I buy it again - yes I probably will. I admit that Fairy Liquid does seem like a more quality product, right from when you lather up and would rather have this if it is on offer. However, I am not a dishwashing connoisseur and as long as everything comes up clean, that's all that matters to me. When you save about a third on the branded product, this can soon add up. So I will continue to try more items from this range, to see what works and what doesn't.

***Availability***

It is available from Tesco for 67p and is available in anti-bacterial and lemon varieties. This compares well to 93p for Fairy Original or 98p for Fairy Liquid Lemon.

Summary: If you are cutting back - then this will help save the pennies - after all, every little helps!

I'm using this at the moment, but find the bubbles have disappeared before I'm finished washing up.

I've tried just about every bargain washing up liquid in existence, including this one, but have finally come back to Fairy - it really does last that much longer.
