Advantages: It works brilliantly!
Disadvantages: Absolutely none for me!
Having twin toddlers who are constantly in a mess I am always looking for products than can ensure cleanliness in and around my home. One of my many trusty products that I always turn to is Dettol, as I really feel it does the job it claims it will do. Dettol can be bought in many forms, fragrances and colours but one which I keep coming back to is Dettol Anti Bacterial Surface Cleanser.
Dettol Anti Bacterial Surface Cleanser comes in a see through plastic gun trigger spray bottle, but it has a blue lid and a red trigger and nozzle. To be able to release the solution and spray it the red nozzle needs to be turned to 'open' it, to then secure the liquid inside and make it a safer solution the nozzle needs to be turned back again to 'close it'.
The front of the bottle has the easily recognised Dettol logo in it's green circle with a white sword. It clearly says on the front that this solution is Anti Bacterial Suface Cleanser, so no having to worry about confusing it with any other product. It claims on the bottle that it kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. It also tells us it is a Non Bleach liquid, with No Taint and No Odour.
The back of the product also provides us with some vital information such as this surface cleanser;
*Kills E.coli, Salmonella, MRSA, Rotavirus, Flu Virus (H1N1)
*Safe to use where food is prepared
*No need to rinse
You can use this cleanser on chopping boards, work tops, fridges, microwaves, taps, bins, baths, wash basins, showers, toilet seats, door knobs, changing mats, highchairs, potties and last but not least playpens.
However you are advised not to use it on windows, mirrors, fabrics, painted or varnished surfaces.
The anti bacterial liquid looks just like water, being a transparent, thin solution but it has that slight bubbly froth on it's surface for you to know it is some sort of cleaning product. It sprays like a mist of water and lands on surfaces as though it is clear water just spilt. It doesn't have any particular fragrance but it definitely has a clean, fresh and purified scent. Nothing overpowering or offensive, yet not to weak either - it is quite easily identifiable as a cleaning product when you walk into a room giving it that subtle sterilized smell yet not overwhelmingly pungent in any way.
When spraying this thin and clear liquid don't be put off by it's lack of appearance or scent as it works wonders!
I use it on my kitchen work tops more often than not, and as much as I'm ashamed to say it I sometimes do have some tough and stubborn stains which have been hiding behind pots and pans now and then. From gravy to sauces, to some other unrecognisable stains, I've had them and this spray has no trouble at all from lifting it off my kitchen tops and allowing me to wipe my kitchen sides with ease, it picks up all bits and pieces which are left and clears all stains and dirt patches that have been a nuisance niggle. Unlike some sprays I have had no need to wipe down bubbles, froth or dry it off either. It leaves my kitchen sides with a fresh, clean shine but it soon dries to reveal speckless kitchen sides.
My hob more often than not has grease and thick stains and drops here and there which again this spray has no trouble removing and no trouble actually cleaning either. It leaves my hob spotless orf dirt and grime as well as leaving it with a sparkling shine.
After using it if a drop has been left on my hands or fingers it is not one of them products which leaves a nasty smell on my hands afterwards or an aftertaste .. yes I did say aftertaste! Have you ever sprayed a bleach spray and smelt your hands afterwards or ate something, even after washing your hands thoroughly with a scented soap - you can still smell and taste that bleach like it was just sprayed!
Having twin toddlers who want to touch and play with everything, even out the garden in the mud and in the stones I feel confident that this spray cleans and cleanses my kitchen cupboards, draws and handles to make them more hygienic. I even use it to freshen up their toys which get left in cupboards for days on end collecting dust and god knows what.
I really feel it not only thoroughly cleans my surfaces and rooms but it provides a good freshen up when need be to - I always need quick and convenient cleaning products with two messy toddlers on my hands and this definitely does the job. You simply spray and it does it's job within seconds, a quick wipe from yourself and it removes and cleans what it needs to resulting in no mess and cleansed surfaces. I find this one of the most versatile cleaning products going, it's lack of fragrance yet gentle, clean scent is offensive to noone and suits all. It cleans almost anything from your kitchen and bathroom to your kids toys and changing mats.
Having used this on many surfaces trying to prevent my toddlers from picking up any nasty colds or germs I know they have come in close contact with the substance, especially when I havn't had chance to completely dry it off. Not that I let them drink the stuff or anything but I feel confident that it isn't harming them if they do happen to lay their hands on it or something, it doesn't irritate their skin and just requires a simple wipe down of their skin to dry it and their skin is as good as new!
Despite using this product most days and spraying it liberally I find it lasts quite a while too and is definitely worth the £1 odd that I usually pay for it in my local poundstretchers. You can purchase it in most supermarkets and even Wilkinsons too!
Summary: A brilliantly versatile cleaning product suitable for all!
