Advantages: cleans, sanitizes and deoderizes
Disadvantages: nothing
I find that bars of soap leave my hands very dry, but liquid ones less so.
So naturally, I stick to liquid handwash.
I've tried many different types over the years, but I'm sticking with Dettol for now.
The handwash come in many different 'flavours' but my favourite at the moment is the orange coloured one, which has grapefruit extract in it. Healthy Touch Refresh it's called.
I've tried most 'flavours' over my time using this brand, but when it comes to strong smells (normally from cooking or gardening) some just don't remove them along with the dirt. But this one does.
They say the best natural deodoriser is lemon juice, and as grapefruit is also a citrus fruit, it comes a pretty close second. I can chop onions until I cry, I can peel garlic until I start speaking French and have no worries about my hands smelling for days. I just go to the sink and wash them away.
Of course, being Dettol, it claims to kill 99.9% of known bacteria - that I can't verify as I'm not a scientist and so haven't tested this claim - so it removes another worry after handling raw meat like chicken. E-Coli anyone? Not with this handwash
Quite often you can find these handwashes on offer in the big supermarkets, the last time I bought some it was 2 for £2 I think, so I tend to stock up on these occasions. Every little helps, after all.
A little feature of the packaging that I think is worthy of note, is that you can lock the pump. Just push the pump down, and twist in the direction as indicated, and it's done. The pump wont pop back up to dispense any more soap. Very handy when travelling. I even pack a bottle of handwash into my suitcase before jetting off somewhere suitably exotic (can't be too careful abroad eh) It's also handy to remember to check the pumps are locked before you bag them in the supermarket... soap accidentally squeezed into shopping bags is not pleasant
They come in 250ml bottles, plastic of course, so you can wash them out and chuck in the recycling bin.
So good for your hands, good for the recycling and bad for bacteria. Great!
Summary: Clean, Fresh and hygenic

- 06/08/09 I always associate Dettol smells with the old Dettol disinfectant smell. Nice to see they do have other 'flavours' too. |
