The brushes are made of plastic and you can see through them. The black end unscrews so you can put some soap in - I'd recommend fairy liquid washing up soap. You should add a fair amount so it's concentrated but should still top it up with water. Bare in mind when you're washing, the plates will be wet anyway so it's better to be concent...more

Premium Review Dishmatique: Makes Washing Up Easy (340 words)

I have been using ths dishmatique tool for a very long time and it's perhaps the most useful kitchen tool we have. It's ideal for washing up and I think every restaurant should have one for when they wash things by hand. They are available to buy in places such as Tesco and Asda and are basically cleaning brushes with heads that can be replaced. Premium Review The nicer way to do the washing up (685 words)

First off I should say I've never much liked washing up. Plunging your hands into half dirty water, that's either scalding hot when you first start or nastily lukewarm by the end. Now to be fair, with a dishwasher in the house, there isn't that much need any more to wash up by hand, but there are the odd items that can't be dishwashed or occasions when you need a dirty item but ...  Read the complete review

It's more than ten years ago and probably nearer fifteen since I got my Dishmatique. It was an impulse buy in Tesco and my husband scoffed, but the same one is still living in the cupboard under the sink and it's in regular use. It's the most effective aid to washing up that I know. Take a clear plastic tube about nine inches long. Put a screw cap on one end and then fit a scouring pad diagonally to the other end. If you can't picture it have a look at http://www.easydo.demon.co.uk/dishmatique.htm and you'll see exactly what I mean. Fill the tube up with your favourite washing-up liquid and you're ready to go. It's clever, ...  Read the complete review
