Now if you own a Dishwasher then you will know what I am about to talk about, if you don't then let me explain. When you own a dishwasher it can work out to be very expensive as apart from buying your tablets, capsules ect..
You also have to buy a special dishwasher salt and something called Rinse Aid.

Now some months back when I still had my old dishwasher that was a bit knackered, I didn't bother putting in Rinse Aid or Salt as I was using the All in One type tablets that say they have salt and rinse aid in. Now I have my new one I'm in a bit of a fix as I still buy the all in one tablets, but my rinse aid light still comes on from time to time, so I'm having to buy that and keep topping this up.

The one I buy is from Tesco's as this seems to be one of the cheaper brands around at the moment. This comes in a clear plastic bottle, with a blue flip up lid,when flipped up there is a small nozzle that the liquid comes out of. The liquid inside is of a yellow colour and is a very thin liquid. If you take the lid of there is a faint smell of lemons, but not at all overpowering by any means!

Each dishwasher has it's own little compartment to pour this into, with them all being different I will write about mine, my machine is a Beko DWD 5410S so on the front of the door there are 2 lights that comes on when you switch the machine on if it has got low on salt or rinse aid. My rinse aid light comes on about every four weeks so that is when I top this up.

There is a big choice at the supermarkets to choose from when it comes to buying Rinse Aid, but unless the better known brands are on offer then the supermarkets own will do just as good at half the price. The idea of Rinse Aid is that it keeps your dishes and cutlery sparkling clean and your glasses from streaks!

My bottle cost £1.55 for a 500ml, if you buy one of the Fairy Rinse Aid it will set you back £1.98 for 250ml, so there is a big difference in price. My bottle lasts several months, so it's not too bad!

On reading the back of one of the All-in-One tablets, it say's that even if the salt or rinse aid light comes on you do not have to fill these up as the dishwasher will still work well UNLESS you live in an area where your water is extremely hard over 26oe of hardness, so I don't know how you are supposed to find that out. I'll have to ring the waterboard I reckon and see if they can help tell me!

So do I top up or not that is the question!!!!!

Tesco's is just as good as leading brands for cleaning, but not very lemony smelling so I'll give it 4 stars!
