We got our Disney Cars Self-Adhesive Border from an ebay seller, but it's very widely available from lots of popular stores including Wilkinsons and Amazon. You're looking to pay around £8 for a 5m long strip of this border. It's about 17.5cm wide, so it's a decent width for either using as a room border, or as a decorative border on furniture like toy boxes and the like.
My first impression of this stuff was that it was absolutely amazing value for money! The print colours are vivid and bright, the pictures are detailed and very like the film characters, and this stuff has a very glossy, professional finish to it as well. I thought this was just the ticket for dressing up the Grandson's new Cars bedroom with. His walls were already painted light blue, so all we had to do to make them Cars themed, was add this border all around them.
The grandson has a very small box room, so all we needed was 2 rolls of this stuff. Most rooms will need about 3 or 4 rolls though, so do make sure you measure before you order. I set to work getting this stuff up by peeling the backing off slowly, as I went around unrolling the border against the wall, and smoothing it all down as I went. This stuff just glided onto the walls. It was exceptionally easy to apply and it appeared to stick instantly and smoothly the walls.
However, come eight o'clock at night, and on checking on the grandson, I noticed that some of it had started to fall off near the window. I whipped it back on, and left it at that. The next person to check on the grandson (he has special needs and has to be checked several times a night), discovered that another, even larger, area had fallen down. They slid it back up, and it stayed put.
Come the morning, half of the border had fallen down. Yes this stuff is self-adhesive, but they should make it a bit clearer that it's only temporarily so! I wound up going down the DIY store and purchasing some wallpaper border adhesive to stick this border properly to the wall. I have to admit that the self-adhesive properties did make this easier to stick with the glue than if it had just been a paper border though. I found that I didn't have to stand there pressing the border against the wall, and that the self-adhesive properties held it up while the permenant adhesive was drying.
Once the proper glue had dried, the border stayed up just fine. And what's more, it looked fantastic. Obviously I feel a bit deceived that this claims to be self-adhesive, and reckons it can be 'simply peeled off at any time'. So for that reason it's lucky to get the three stars I'm going to give it! But if you're happy to have this up permentantly for a few years, and don't mind gluing it to the wall properly, then I do recommend this. It's bright, colourful, nicely finished and very easy to put up. Providing you remember to buy proper glue that is.
