I enjoy undertaking DIY projects and that is the most important aspect of any DIY task. If you do not enjoy it, then the probability is that you will most likely not do a very good job. I have listed below a few ideas that I hope will help anybody who is embarking on a DIY project. DON’T take on a project that is beyond your abilities, as it could end up as a very costly exercise if you later have to call in professionals. But, this does not mean that you should not tackle big jobs. DO look at any project you are planning and break it down into small tasks and ask yourself can I do that. Late last year, we returned from a short weekend break to discover that our central heating boiler had broken down... the bad weather had just set in, the house was freezing, and we were NOT happy! We got a guy in to fix the problem the next day - it was a long drawn-out process, involving two seperate trips for spare parts... and at the end of the day I was presented with a bill for nearly 300 quid (owch!) The annoying part was at least half of the bill was for labour - something which (as far as I could tell) involved unplugging anything that looked dodgy, driving a 20 mile round trip to the supplier, and then plugging in a replacement part to see if ...
