A bit of a byword for keeping the loo fresh and clean, does Domestos live up to its 'No.1 germ killer' claims?

I'll leave proving that to the scientists but this is a reliable, familiar and good quality product. I've been caught beore buying cheaper alternatives that are thin and watery, Domestos is a thicker liquid with a distinct but not really unpleasant bleachy smell.

Can be used neat on toilets and plugholes and can be diluted to soak dishcloths, treat whites and wash floors, very versatile. Long list of dos and don'ts on the back for the uninitiated.


The lively packaging in bright orange, yellow and neon pink is cheerful and unmistakable. The cap needs to be squeezed in order to turn it but it is easy to open which could be a plus or minus point if you have inquisitive children in the house. Comes in a 750 ml or 2L bottle, the 2L takes quite some storage and is a bit ungainly. Typically the smaller bottle retails at under £1 so it is good value.

Kills all known germs dead (allegedly) and that sounds good to me.
