Advantages: Excellent cleaning properties, makes my bungalow smell fresh and clean
Disadvantages: ----------
Recently I saw this Domestos Sun Fresh bleach in Poundland and bought a bottle because my bathroom was in need of a clean. I have used Domestos for years but not exclusively as they are one of the most expensive bleach brands and when it comes to cleaning products I do tend to buy whatever is on offer at the time.
The scent straight out of the bottle is just bleach, softened slightly with a fresh fragrance which is a mix of citrus and floral smells. It's only after use that the real reason for buying a 'scented' bleach is apparent, rooms I've used the bleach in smell exceptionally fresh and have that just cleaned aroma that brightens your house up no end.
The bleach is thick and has a 'no drip' formulation, this is a little misleading in actual fact as although it's a very thick bleach it's still a liquid so will obviously drip if handled wrongly.
I mainly used this bleach to clean my bathroom sink, toilet and tiles and I can honeslty say it coped admirably and made light work of my cleaning. The toilet was very simple to clean using the bleach as I simply had squirt some beneath the rim and leave it for an hour before giving it a cursory wipe over with a damp cloth and flushing.
The bottle neck is shaped well so that the bleach can be directed accurately wherever you need to bleach to go. This makes it particularly good for the toilet as I was able to squirt it under the rim and also in the creases of the pipes at the back of my toilet without risking bleaching my carpet by accident!
Another use for this bleach is the kitchen worktops. Now, I don't really like to use bleach where I am going to be preparing food but sometimes needs must. The main need was when my 16 year old nephew stayed for a few days recently, I swear the child doesn't know what a dishcloth is for - or water actually, but that's a whole new heartache! He is a real night owl and while I was in bed last night he made himself a glass of Jucee squash. This stuff is notorious for staining and personally I don't buy the brand, but it's his favourite so I'd got a bottle of blackcurrant in.
The following morning I got up to find puddles of undiluted squash all along the pale surfaces of my worktops, after mopping it up (and cursing the laziness of today's youth) I realised some of the squash had dried and stained the worktop. What a mess! However, a squirt of this Domestos was all it took for the stains to disappear after I had left it to soak in for less than five minutes.
As someone with severe asthma, the smell and fumes emitted from cleaning products is something I need to consider each time I buy a new brand. While I have always found Domestos to be fairly kind to my chest, some of the variations within the brand do make me cough somewhat. This Sun Fresh variety however has had no adverse effects whatsoever and despite the fact that the aroma is strong enough to freshen my rooms for hours after application, it doesn't make me feel wheezy in the slightest.
Summary: Makes cleaning simple and gives me lovely fresh smelling rooms.

- 20/08/09 Interesting read. I tend to buy the cheap "Easy" brand in Farmfoods - you get two bottles for a pound - but I might try this if I see it on offer :-) |

- 20/08/09 I can't see that bleach could ever be honestly described as 'sun fresh'.... :) |
