Advantages: cheap, softens & detangles clothes etc.

Disadvantages: make a noise

Our tumble dryer gets used a good deal all year round as hubby hates laundry to be hung outdoors for everyone to see & although we have a utility room there isn't really enough space to dry towels & sheets etc. I was flicking TV channels one day when I came accross a presentaion for wash balls which look similar to those in the picture but cost a heck of a lot more. I like the concept though so went on a search for simialr but cheaper ones to try.

I found some in our local Poundland which looked identical so, for a quid, thought I'd give them a try as they claim to reduce drying time, make clothes etc feel soft & replace dryer sheets.

I've just measured one (see what a dedicated Dooyooer I am? lol!) & it measures 8" acccording to my trusty tape measure. They are fairly light & the whole surface (apart from a little at one end) is covered in nobbly bits & each ball is made of a rigid plastic.

All you do is add them to your damp washing in the tumble dryer, switch on & wait until the cycle is finished.

They do make a muffled thudding noise but it's fun to see them twist & turn working hard in order to prevent any possible tangling & I must admit I save at least 10 minutes-worth of electricity. This may not sound a lot but over a year I'm sure it's quite a good deal & I've only invested £1.

I've noticed a difference in the softness of our towels which come out more fluffy & soft than they did previously. I've also noticed that the Egyptian cotton sheets feel softer & need much less steaming so I guess I'm saving money that way too.

To be honest I haven't yet used them when drying our favourite clothes - I'm sure they're safe enough but looking at the nobbly bits on the balls I'm wondering if they're a bit too hard for delicates? If I'm brave enough to try I'll keep you posted.

summary
~
- strange concept until you get used to using them.
- great results so far when drying jeans, sheets & towels.
- seem to last forever so well worth the £1 I paid.
- well worth trying if you rely on a tumble dryer.

Summary: if you rely on a dryer these are well worth giving a go.

Think I will get some too - but will not use with delicate / favourite clothes. Thnx.
