Do you have "dryer" balls?!
Member Name: kaitlinsmummy
Advantages: A cheap, effective and long lasting product.
Disadvantages: Start off a bit noisy.
I find that as the weather starts to turn in Autumn, i depend more and more on my tumble dryer, so much in fact i would really be lost without it!
I have never really used tumble dryer sheets as i find this is an added expense, but have been after some tumble dryer balls for a while (my Mum swears by them!), so when i visited my local Dunehlm mill store was pleased to find some for the bargain price of £1.00 for a set of two!
The idea of these balls is that when the tumble dryer starts the balls bounce against the fabrics in the turn ing drum, pounding the fibres strecthing slightly, relaxing them, and ultimately making them softer, with less creases and generally helping speed up the drying time....with the last point needing a miracle as i always seem to have basket full and tend to load my machine to get through it!
The balls themselves are slightly larger than a golf ball, and are made of a lightweight plastic, though are not particularly squishy to the touch.
Each ball is covered in "nodules", which are the pummelling agent, and though there weren't particularly any usage information on them, my Mum advised me to put both balls in with the loads of drying.
The first time i used them i was suprpised by just how noisy they are, that is until they become properly mixed up in the washing, making the dryer sound like it is about to shake itself to bits!
Once the balls beomce incorperated with the washing i find i forget they are there until removing from the dryer, then i find i have to remove them from a corner of a pillow case, or even once inside a sock (?), with them never looking like they are suffering with wear and tear, even getting so warm in the drying process.
My clothes do feel a little softer, especially the towels, they seem to come out much fluffier, though for the creases i am afraid they still exsist, and this product has not reduced down the need for ironing!
For the price and longevity of use (so far these have lasted me 9 months), this is a fantastic product, especially compared to the softner sheets available, recommended!
Availability on this product is actually quite widespread, with many of the supermarkets offering there own versions.
Thanks for reading x
Summary: A really good product.
