Advantages: good coverage
Disadvantages: price
Dulux once its just peachy in the bedroom.
Well the walls are Dulux soft peach anyway.
Having now got a lovely new kitchen and having decorated the sitting room We went upstairs to the bedroom, Sallys bedroom although my daughter has grown up and left home a few years ago home years that room will always be her room. It has not been decorated for many a year the walls are not even.
We are tired of painting so we decided that we would splash out on some good quality paint that would only need one coat rather than opt for our usual B&Q paint. B&Q paint is good but we wanted something even better. The paint we bought was Dulux once. We bought our paint from B&Q the shop is near my work but dulux paint is available in most D I Y and home decorating shops. B&Q price is about £16.00p much more expensive than their own paint.
Dulux once comes in 46 shades I decided soft peach would be right for the spare bedroom.
Home again we took the pin up posters of sallys wall felt soppy and sentimental about her growing up.We dusted the walls down and filled a few holes with pollyfilla. We decided to paint straight over the wallpapered surface. No energy to strip the walls and begin again.
The Dulux once is a matt paint this does not reflect the light as much as a silk paint and is kinder when you have an uneven surface.
This paint comes in a plastic lozenge type shaped plastic tub containing 2.5 litres we bought 2 cans for the bedroom sized about 12 ft by 14ft. We did open the second pot but did not need it all.
I had prepared the walls so paintbrush in hand I opened the paint the colour a soft peach pleasant. I poured some paint into a roller tray, if I had a smaller roller it would have fitted into the pot. The paint was thick and creamy I filled my roller and started painting the walls. The paint was easy to apply and no drips. It covered well no problems I kept refilling my roller till I had completed the painting (alright I did stop half way for a cuppa).
I stepped back to admire my handiwork and thought most of it did not need a second coat, a couple of areas where the surface of the wall was poor did. So I waited till paint dry (not long as it was a hot sunny day.) I then applied the second coat to those shabby areas and looked back on my work I was happy. A good coverage and a lot of the flaws in the surface of the walls did not show.
So overall I would recommend this paint.
I was painting on a light colour and I think that painting over a light flawless surface would only need one coat of paint; painting over a dark surface might need two.
This paint was easy to apply was not messy as it did not drip. I had the windows open to get some ventilation, as with all paints it did smell painty.
The room looked nice and fresh smelt clean now all that was needed was to wait for the carpets to be delivered 2 days later and the furniture to be arranged. Carpets down now it looks great. I like light coloured walls as it makes the room seem larger. This soft peach gives the room a warm glow and is a good base colour for a variety of colours in my furnishings.
I just hope the Dulux dog does not come and make a mess of my newly decorated house and Adrian is not too messy a visitor. Thanks for reading another of my decorating opps Mary

- 06/10/04 I love Dulux too - I found one of these oddly shaped tubs in my cupboard under the stairs in a lovely soft yellow shade and painted my stairwell in it - it looks great. I still can't remember actually buying the paint though.. most odd! Rxxx
