Dulux Weathershield Masonry Paint (Dulux)
Member Name: poppyash
Advantages: Very easy to apply - rainproof in 30 minutes Disadvantages: Wipe up any spills as soon as possible I have just painted the outside of my house with Dulux Weathershield textured masonry paint. This paint contains an acryylic resin which guarantees protection from all types of weather for up to 15 years. It can be bought in 2.5l or 5l tins. Normal price for a 5L tin is £23.99 but it is on offer in June at Focus for 3 tins for the price of 2. It can be used on dry exterior rendering and masonry and even brick and is mould and algae resistant. It comes in a range of colours apart from white. I chose Sandstone. Each 5L tin covers about 45 square metres and is rainproof in 30 minutes - something to consider with the British climate! However, it usually takes about 4 hours to thoroughly dry. The texture of the paint is like double cream and can be applied with either a roller or brush. However it is important to remove any loose or flaking paint and repair any surface defects before the paint is applied. As the paint dries it becomes lighter than when its first applied. The only disadvantage is the spills and drips. Summary: Very easy to apply with a professional finish. |
