No Shaggy Dog Tale, Dulux is the Best!

Advantages: Coverage, choice of colour, application
Disadvantages: Can be pricier when not on offer
I have recently (nearly) completed doing up my house. My husband and I purchased it and it was a total shell. Every single room needed full and total refurbishment. Obviously over the last year, we have purchased at LOT of paint!
And a lot of that paint has been Dulux, but why do I think Dulux is such an excellent brand in paint (and I do!)
1. Choice of Colour
For me Dulux is absolutely the best brand in terms of colour choice, and if they don't have the colour you want, most larger DIY stores can mix it for you if you take a sample colour in (it can be a cushion, bit of wallpaper or anything really). It's closely followed by Crown, but I find Dulux has more themed colours - colours of nature, timeless classics and so on.
Generally you can find Dulux on offer at least somewhere, my favourite offer being the 2 x 2.5 litre cans of paint for £20 making them £10 a can and cheaper than own brands - brilliant, when you see this offer, stock up.
You only have to go to a DIY store to be more or less guaranteed that they will sell Dulux. With Crown you need a larger store I find and of course with any own brand paint like Wickes or B&Q you're then tied to that store for extra paint and so on.
In terms of importance this is number one. Cheaper paints are a false economy, the quality of Dulux paint is excellent, thick and creamy and needs two coats at most. Cheaper paints are watery and need three coats I have found, also the colour never quite seems to look the same as on the tin or the colour chart.
It's so easy to apply whether with a paint pad, roller, brush or even Dulux's own Paint Pod, and gives a lovely creamy smooth finish which dries quickly without too much unpleasant paint odour - the last matt wall I painted hardly had any scent to it and it dried in an hour. Excellent.
I've recommended Dulux to everyone I know who is doing DIY because in all honesty for me it is the best paint out there. I include outdoor paint in this too, and specialist paint, it just cannot be beaten.
Overall I highly recommend Dulux paint as the paint of choice for all DIYers as you know you will get a beautiful professional result. It's hassle free DIY which is what we all need!
Summary: A great paint, my favourite by far
