I have had many an unhappy hour stripping old wallpaper off my present house and previous houses.
Damping the old wallpaper with a wet sponge is time consuming and no fun. Last weekend I treated myself to an Earlex steam wallpaper stripper from B & Q for £29.99.
What a marvellous piece of equipment. Whereas the average room used to take me 2 days to strip using a damp sponge and scraper I completed my daughter’s bedroom in just 2 hours.
The only problem I have now is that my wife knows how fast I can actually work. And I have been volunteered to decorate my mother in laws kitchen.
The steam stripper is electric, on wheels and comes with a very long steam hose that gives you more than adequate reach, which is useful when trying to reach the top corners of a room. One you get going with the stripper (wallpaper) you soon develop a pattern of using the steamer on one section of wall then moving along whilst removing the now soft and easily removable paper with the other hand.
This piece of equipment is a godsend I recommend anyone who is about to redecorate to invest in one of these. Over the years I’m sure it will save you hours of tedious sponging down.
