Ecover is gradually building a place for itself on the shelves of mainstream shops such as Tesco. It will be a long time before they edge out those nasty brand leaders, but at least this is a sign that shoppers are beginning to consider eco-friendliness when they buy. My favourite item from the Ecover range (along with the loo cleaner) is the multi-surface cleaner. I usually purchase it from a little health shop (just to feel EVEN MORE smug!!) but have seen it on the shelves of Tesco. It promises to clean powerfully without the need for harsh petrochemicals. In accordance with my general detox theme I found myself in the local wholefood shop the other week. Whilst wandering through the isles looking at stuff that occasionally didn’t actually look like food I found myself at the household products section. Now I have to admit, some years back I tried using Ecover washing up liquid but it smelt horrible. After finishing the bottle I went back to using the cheapy Asda ‘kill the earth’ version. I’m not proud of this. I use animal/earth friendly make-up and I’m veggie so it feels wrong to be using anything that damages the environment.
