Advantages: Fantastic smell, Cleans as well as market leaders, Eco-friendly
Disadvantages: None!
Ecover is gradually building a place for itself on the shelves of mainstream shops such as Tesco. It will be a long time before they edge out those nasty brand leaders, but at least this is a sign that shoppers are beginning to consider eco-friendliness when they buy. My favourite item from the Ecover range (along with the loo cleaner) is the multi-surface cleaner. I usually purchase it from a little health shop (just to feel EVEN MORE smug!!) but have seen it on the shelves of Tesco. It promises to clean powerfully without the need for harsh petrochemicals. It contains plant-based soap, a natural lemon fragrance and 100% biodegradable preservative. It is not tested on animals and is also very competitively-priced. I first bought this cleaner ages ago when I suddenly realised I was out of my normal brand. I was in the health shop and decided to give it a go. I have been buying it ever since and have found nothing better. The small is outstanding: a really pleasant, light lemony smell; not at all like the artificail pong of half a ton of lemons that you get with some cleaners. And thankfully nothing like the vile "catches in your throat" kind of chemical whiff that some of these anti-bac sprays have. I assume it doesn't kill every living thing within 100 yards, like the anti-bacs, but I don't mind at all! The bottle has no spray top, so you have to slosh it onto the surface, but I don't think it is a negative point at all. You don't need much; I've been amazed by how long each bottle lasts. I've used this cleaner just about everywhere; on the stainless steel cooker, in the bathroom, on the hard floors, on the carpet (pesky cat sick!) and it has been great. Everything comes up smelling lovely, and it leaves no sticky residue at all. It has loads of uses, and deserves a place in everyone's undersink cupboard It's nice to know that you can buy a cleaning product that won't damage the envi
ronment but that will actually WORK. This has been a criticism of "eco" products in the past; it certainly doesn't apply here. I think that Ecover has realised that consumers are demanding and that if they want to reach as many people as possible their products have to compete alongside the market leaders. With this product they have come up trumps!
