Advantages: Kind to skin, (hopefully) kinder to the environment, nice scent, nice dense foam.
Disadvantages: Only if youre a bubble addict!
Ecover washing up liquid is the third ecover product I tried (after the laundry liquid and softener). I specifically chose it because my skin is sensitive and I HATE wearing rubber gloves, I find them so clumsy.
The solution to sensitive skin for most companies is to pump the washing up liquid full of moisturisers. The problem is, these often leave your dishes covered in a slippery layer. Ecover have a different approach to cleaning, reduce the amount of irritating chemicals and replace them with more natural components to make more environmentally friendly. While these are no less "chemicals" they are less irritating to skin. So you can put your rubber gloves back under the sink.
The bottle, like most ecover packaging, is recyclable plastic. It has a flip top, not a pull top like most washing up liquids. It is sturdy but easily squeezed.
The liquid comes in lemon or chamomile, both of which I find pleasant scents. It is quite runny, not as thick as other washing up liquids, I expect this is due to the reduced surficants and detergents. A small squeeze is sufficient to wash an average load of dishes. Squirted under running water it gives a nice dense layer of foam, even through out the whole surface of the sink. There is less foam than with other washing up liquids, but don't let that put you off.
We often associate strong smells and large amounts of foam with more effective cleaning. This couldn't be further from the truth. A strong scent simply covers over other smells, and foam is not what cleans the dishes.
I find this product cleans all my dishes efectively and quickly, leaving behind no residue. Where something is burned on leaving it soaking overnight is enough to remove it. The sink is left clean when the dishwater is drained (a big plus in my opinion!).
At around £1.50 for 500 ml, or £2 for 1l it is at the more pricey end of the washing up liquids, but it is so kind to my skin that I think it's worth it, and if you get the 1l bottle it only ends up being 10p more expensive than the same amount of eg fairy liquid.

Summary: I love this, my dishes love this, my skin especially love this.
