Advantages: Work perfect every time, adapt to the number of eggs in the pan, a fun novely item

Disadvantages: None

I had always wanted an egg timer as i love my little gadgets (and am also a bit of a nerd!) I had heard of this colour changing egg timer and seen them advertised for around £6. I thought that was a bit expensive and decided i would get one when they went down in price a bit.

I was on Hot Uk Deals a few weeks ago and you can imagine my glee when i saw someone had posted an advert saying these egg timers were available for a pound in Poundland! I was really chuffed and couldnt wait to check out my nearest Poundland to see if they had any.

I went down the next day and couldnt see any and had almost given up hope when i finally spotted them. I shouted out a loud "yay" and my boyfriend looked at me like i was a little bit strange. I didnt care though as i had my cool looking egg timer for a pound! I popped two in my basket and gave my mum one.

I love a runny boiled egg and toast for breakfast the odd time so i decided to have it the next day. I had read on the back of the packet that you have to place to egg timer in the fridge with your eggs so they are both at the same temperature. Cool, i thought and did this.

The next morning when i was making my breakfast i popped two eggs and my cute little egg timer into water and started boiling my eggs. After about thirty seconds, i moaned to my boyfriend that it wasnt working as it looked the same.

I hadnt read the back of the packet properly and when i did i realised how it worked. The egg timer has three different points on it depending on how you like your eggs cooked. They are Hard, Medium and Soft. As i like soft eggs, i decided to go for this.

Basically all you have to do is watch it in the pot and when the egg turns white (from the outside) and reaches the soft line, this is when you take your eggs out. Simples! If you like Hard eggs then you just watch until the line goes to hard and most of the egg is white.

When i took my eggs out of the pot and took the top off, they were all runny and gooey the way i love them and even better was the fact that i didnt have to watch the clock and just guesstimate when they would be ready. I was well chuffed and think everyone should have one of these nifty little items in their kitchen.

My mum loved hers too and has raved about it ever since. The egg shape itself feels smooth at the top but is quite flat and rough feeling at the bottom. When im finished with it, i just pop mine back in the fridge and it returns to normal when it cools down.

This may sound a bit silly but i loved standing watching the egg timer change colour(i dont get out much!) and was constantly shouting to my boyfriend "Ohh, look at it now!" much to his annoyance as he was watching the tv at the time.

The RRP of these egg timers are £5.99 but are on sale at the moment for £2.85. As i said before, i got mine in Poundland so you should check out your local one to see if you can grab one.

A great little kitchen gadget which everyone should own. Perfect results everytime and well recommended by me!

Summary: Get one
