Advantages: A little goes a long way

Disadvantages: N/A

There are so many difficult washing up liquids on the market nowadays that it can be difficult to know which one to buy. In terms of quality, you can't go too far wrong with anything made by Fairy, and it's their 'Antibacterial Action' range which this review focuses on. The range consists of three different varieties; 'Pink Grapefruit & Garden Mint', 'Eucalyptus', and 'Lime & Lemongrass'. My favourite of the three has to be the Lime & Lemongrass, which is green in colour and can be purchased for £1.45 from Tesco for the 450ml squeezy bottle.

The good thing about Fairy Liquid (and this seems to apply to all their products), is the fact that a little goes a long way - in fact, a tiny amount of Fairy results in a sink full of frothy bubbles. The cheaper liquids out there represent false economy - yes, they can cost as little as 20p a bottle, but you end up putting so much of the stuff on your plates that it's used up in less than a week. Fairy seems to last for ages, so I'm happy to pay the extra.

As I mentioned in my review of antibacterial wipes, most bacteria is generally good for you, and not the demonised death-bug as it is portrayed in the media - however, around the kitchen, I feel an antibacterial product is necessary, especially in households which use a lot of raw meats in their cooking. The antibacterial action of Fairy gives me the peace of mind that a cutting board which has had raw chicken on it will be successfully sanitized (in combination with some boiling water).

The smell of the Lime & Lemongrass variety is tangy and pleasant, with a natural aroma which is neither chemically or artificial. The liquid itself is fairly thick in consistency, and foams up well on a sponge or cloth.

After using, my hands don't feel too dry (as is often the case with the cheaper washing up liquids), and the product has a stamp of approval from the British Skin Foundation.

All in all then, I highly recommend the Fairy Antibacterial Action range as a sweet smelling and effective selection of washing up products - they last for ages, and do exactly what they are supposed to - cheers Fairy.

Summary: Great washing up liquid

Nice stuff - always a fan of Fairy but I agree with you about germs. We need some bacteria to build up a resistance.

Actually Ive often used this as a surface cleaner at school, mixed with water in a spray bottle. One little drop is just enough.
