Advantages: easy to use & does the job
Disadvantages: none
Our poor old dishwasher is well past it's sell-by date now so it looks like I'll be having to do most of the washing-up by hand over Christmas (funny how members of the family disappear isn't it?).
I've tried to save money wherever possible for the past year but one thing I find I can't/ won't replace is good old Fairy because it's just so good at cleaning the dishes.
My husband bought some home yesterday - he picked up a couple of 500ml bottles at the local poundshop - didn't like to tell him that Tesco are currently selling 3 for £2!
There's something comforting about seeing the lovely green bottle (with fairy of course) by the sink & if the product is good enough for Her Majesty's stamp of approval I'm sure it's good enough for our family.
It's good packaging as it's an easy to hold bottle & the top is a flip-top one which means the liquid doesn't go gungey or drip.
It's easy to gauge how much you need so there's no waste & because the liquid is fairly concentrated you only need 2 or 3 squirts to wash a bowlful of dirty dishes.
The washing-up liquid itself has a pleasant smell which doesn't linger on the plates etc. & it really does do the job effectively. I've found it not only cuts through grease but also dried-on food & waste & everything comes out literally squeaky clean.
I've tried other types of Fairy but this original works fine for me so I won't change unless, of course, there's a really good offer.
There's plenty of info on the bottle -
- ingredients ( all gobbledegook to me)
- directions for use.
- website address.
- info telling me the empty bottle can be re-cycled.
summary
~
- a good consistency which means you only need a little to do a lot.
- well thought-out packaging - easy to gauge & pour.
- no drips or gunge due to sensible top.
- does the job with no fuss.
- in my opinion the best washing-up liquid around.
Summary: in my opinion the best washing-up liquid around at the moment

- 10/02/09 I am attempting to learn whether the unsanitary practice of NOT rinsing hand-washed dishes is exclusive to Scotland.
In all my long years, I'd never seen this done until I visited homes during the years I lived in Scotland.
I find it rather disgusting to lift "washed" dishes, cutlery, glassware, cookware out of water teeming with spit and food bits...and simply put them on a drainboard...no rinsing!
After all, electric dishwashers DO have a rinse cycle. And as far as I know, people and animals are rinsed after they are washed....even cars are rinsed!
Any comment? |

- 07/12/08 I won't use anything other than Fairy, although have you noticed it takes an awful lot of rinsing nowadays? |
