Advantages: Lovely smell
Disadvantages: See review
I know a lot of people insist on using Fairy washing up liquid, but quite frankly I don't really care. In my house, we have 8 bottles of washing up liquid, which is what happens when a few people move in together and don't discuss cleaning (either that or you have none at all)! So amongst the brand names and the supermarkets' own there was some Fairy.
Living with two students, none of us bought it, but my dad brought some over because he'd got a big multi-pack at the cash and carry. Thanks dad, just what I always wanted (I'm half-kidding) :)
So after using up a couple of bottles of cheap stuff, I grabbed the nearest next bottle, which happened to be Fairy. A regular size transparent bottle, you can easily see the thick green liquid inside. I always think of those old adverts on TV about keeping your hands soft with Fairy, and upon opening the bottle, I was instantly reminded of my mum using it.
The good thing about Fairy is that it's very bubbly, and even squeezing the bottle a little will sometimes produce lots of tiny rainbow bubbles, which makes doing the washing up a bit nicer! It's much thicker than supermarket own brands, which makes it great for the washing up bowl. However, when I put some into my refillable dish scrubbing brush, I found it barely bubbled up at all and I couldn't wash things up as easily. This was quite disappointing, as normally I put a bit of water in the brush with the washing up liquid and it makes even cheap stuff go much further. However, I think I'll have to stick to a regular sponge with Fairy - maybe it's just too thick?!
Anyway, Fairy is really good quality washing up liquid, as I'm sure you all know, and in my opinion worth it just for the smell alone. I didn't find my hands were any softer after using it, but if I'm sticking to a regular hand sponge they better had be!
Summary: A bit too pricey for me normally, but a welcome gift!
