Mild Clean..Fairy Liquid
Fairy Liquid is a range of washing up liquid products produced by Procter and Gamble.
There is a various types of washing up liquid that Fairy offer.
Original - designed to give you more, longer lasting bubbles and improve grease cutting. I will discuss this variety further in my review. Other fragrances in this range include lemon and apple.
Clean and Care - 3 fragrances (silk and orchid/almond/aloe vera and cucumber). This range is designed to provide moisturising agents to keep your hands soft as well as cleaning your dishes to a high standard.
Scent-sensations - 4 fragrances (pink pearls/fresh lavender/lemon/apple). Designed to add a touch of fragrance into your washing experience.
Anti-bacterial Action - 3 fragrances (pink grapefruit and garden mint/lime and lemongrass/eucalyptus). This range has been created with natural herbs and citrus extracts to keep germs at bay.
Powerspray - this is different from your usual washing up liquid. It comes in a spray bottle and aides removal of burnt on marks. This can also be used in the microwave and on surfaces.
Fairy also have a range of dishwasher tablets and tabs.
For the purpose of this review, I will be reviewing the Fairy Original. This has been designed with a richer formula for outstanding cleaning and has been known to keep your hands soft! Fairy Original has been a home favourite for many for the over 50years.
The bottle I have is a 650ml bottle. It is a tall clear bottle which is curved at one end and indented at the other for easy handling. The bottle has a red flip top lid with a small spout to dispense the washing up liquid. There is a sticker on the front of the bottle which has the Fairy name and the little baby logo that we are all familiar with showing this is a family brand. The back of the bottle has a very small label which has tiny writing specifying the ingredients, directions for use and company details. The bottle can be recycled.
Fairy Original is an intense green colour and is suprisingly runny in consistency. You can see the bubbles through the bottle which are tiny until they hit the water.
To use, pour a small amount under running warm water to create bubbles.
15-30% Anionic Surfactants , 5-15% Non-ionic Surfactants , Methylisothiazolinone , Phenoxyethanol , Perfumes .

*Availability and Price*
Fairy Liquid is stocked in supermarkets in the cleaning aisle, Wilkinsons, B&Ms, Semi Chem, Superdrug etc.
Sizes are 450ml and 650ml.
Asda are currently running an offer on the original 650ml for 70p which is a bargain considering the 450ml is £1. Other types in the range vary in price dependant on shop but could be anything up to £2 sometimes more.
For a while, I had been using own brand washing up liquid or whatever was on offer. If Fairy is on offer, I buy it as I feel it is more superior than cheaper brands. I recently purchased 4 bottles of Morningfresh as my local Wilkos had them down to 25p but I had ran out and needed more from Asda. Fairy Original on 70p as part of their cleaning promotion! Bargain and I intend to buy more!
So what do I think?
Packaging - very good, looks nice on my sink and is ideal shape to hold without slipping into my dishes. The flip top is good as simple to open though does become rather sticky.
The liquid - smells clean and fresh which is good as it is for cleaning dirty dishes after all! I was suprised that the liquid was so runny though I soon found this was not an issue.
Using - I squeezed a small amount into my basin alongside my dishes and ran my hot water. I do my pots seperately. Lots and lots of bubbles filled my basin and I think I did put too much in so will know not to the the next time! I left my dishes to steep for 10mins like I normally do though this wasn't required as the washing up liquid works really quickly and removes stubborn stains effortlessly. I hardly needed to scrub and even the pots came up shining without any elbow grease.
The dishes rinsed well and smelt clean and fresh without leaving any residue. Everything was clean and I wouldn't say completely shiny but enough for me anyway! I am very happy.
I used to think Fairy Liquid was expensive and at the rate I use it, wouldn't last a crack in my kitchen though I have been swayed. For the initial outlay of the price, it will last you longer, it does clean better than other liquids, hardly any elbow grease is required and you therefore will not go through as much scoury pads as with cheaper brands.
I have been using my 650ml bottle for about 2weeks and would say there is 1/4 out of it and that is doing dishes quite a few times a day.
I would say stock up when on offer and get your bum down to Asda for bottles at 70p..its a true bargain on an everyday essential.
Thanks for reading!
