Green fairy Liquid.

Advantages: Cleans well, only need to use a small amount
Disadvantages: In my opinion nothing!
When choosing washing up liquid, I have always preferred Fairy to other supermarkets own brand as I feel as though Fairy cleans the dishes better and tackles dried on food without having to scrub the dishes too much. Fairy is a well known brand and one that has been around for years. I remember going down to my Nan's house when I was younger and seeing the old style white fairy bottle sitting next to the sink. Nowadays Fairy now comes in brand new packaging which is modern looking and they also have a larger range of Fairy product including different scents of washing up liquid. They now sell an antibacterial washing up liquid, so Fairy have come a long way since the original Fairy Liquid.
~ PRICE/AVAILIBILITY ~
You can purchase fairy from all supermarkets and some local shops, prices may vary, how-ever there is a rough price idea below:
Fairy 870ml bottle - £1.99
Fairy 650ml bottle - £1.60
Fairy 433ml bottle - £1.25
Prices may vary in different stores and please note that prices are for the Fairy original Washing up Liquid.
~ PACKAGING ~
The liquid comes in a clear bottle with a red lid. The red lid flips back in order for your to squeeze some of the liquid out. On the front on the packaging it says Fairy is large red letters and then has bubbles and the baby on the front as all Fairy products have. You can clearly see the colour of the liquid in the bottle which is a nice shade of green. Of course if you are going for a different Fairy product and not the Original Washing up Liquid the colour may be yellow, purple or green.
~ USING THE PRODUCT ~
I popped some of the dishes and cutlery into the sink and squirted a small amount of the liquid over the items to be washed. The product doesn't really smell of anything and the only way I could describe the smell would be that it smells a little soapy. I turned on the hot water and filled the sink up. As the liquid mixed in with the water it started to create lots of white bubbles in the sink. Using a sponge scourer I started to wipe the dishes off and clean the items which were in the sink. The plates weren't very messy to clean off and only had a bit of leftover pasta sauce on them, which wiped off straight away without having to scrub at the plates. The cups which had coffee in also washed clean straight away with minimum effort. There was how-ever a glass dish which had some food cooked in it the previous night. This was a little stuck on so I put a squirted a little more fairy liquid into the dish and then popped it into the sink which was still full of water. I then left this to soak for a few minutes so the food had time to loosen. I went back to the soaking dish after about 5 minutes and using the sponge scourer started to wipe the stuck on food off. I had to scrub a little at the sides of the dish but the food came off and I was left with a very clean looking dish. I was impressed at how little I had to scrub in order to get the stuck on food off the dish. I suffer from eczema on my hands so I do use gloves when doing the washing up so I can't comment on whether this product irritates my skin or dries it out.
~ COMPARING THE PRODUCT TO OTHER BRANDS ~
I have used other types of washing up liquids including Co-Op's own brand of liquid. Although some of their liquids smell very nice, I don't feel as they do such a good job as fairy does. When I'm using another brand of liquid I find myself having to scrub at dishes with left over food on a lot longer and having to soak the items for longer than 5 minutes in order to budge the food that's been stuck on there for about a day. I know other brands may appear cheaper, how-ever I don't think they clean as well and as quick as fairy.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
I prefer using Fairy liquid compared to other brands and supermarkets own brand of liquid. I personally think fairy lasts a long time as you don't need to use as much of the product in order to get clean dishes and cutlery. Although I only really buy the Original liquid from Fairy I would be prompted to purchase the other one's such as the Lemon and antibacterial liquids as well. In terms of value, it may seem expensive when compared to other brands; how-ever Fairy lasts much longer. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars and never seem to fail getting stuck on food off of the dishes!
